Gone but not forgotten. We met during UC Berkeley orientation and were friends through our undergraduate years. We reconnected online a few years before she passed away. I only learned of her passing after reaching out to her sister Nancy.

Nancy and Scott,
I just saw the announcement in the Oct./Nov. Stanford Alumni magazine. I knew Kathy as a fellow grad. student at Stanford and during her time at Bell Labs in New Jersey. She was smart and insightful and had a wonderful combination of wit and warmth. She will be missed.

Dear Nancy and Scott,
I was so sorry to hear of Kathy's passing. With her/your dad as my brother's best friend growing up here in Sacramento - your mom and dad were part of Herb's best friends since kindergarten. We used to keep in touch, but have lost tract since their passing. Tough way to reconnect, but I do send my best to you, I am awed by Kathy's amazing abilities!

I worked with Kathy when she was an undergraduate at UC Berkeley and I was a brand-new Assistant Professor of Psychology. Looking back, I think she was probably the best undergraduate collaborator I ever had, but because she was also my first, I'm not sure I fully appreciated her great gifts at the time. I am saddened to hear of her passing, but happy to know of the contributions she managed to make despite -- but also because of -- the environmental challenges she confronted.

Dear Scott and Nancy: We miss Kathy. We are glad we could celebrate Kathy with you, family and friends today. Truly what an amazing life and impact on so many others. As Elton John sings "her candle blew out long before her memory ever will."

Kathy worked with me as a grad student at Stanford. She was a joy, always thorough, wise, insightful, cheerful and those qualities never left her. We stayed in touch through her work at SUN, her move to Santa Cruz and then Arizona, her ups and downs, her dedicated community work in AZ. Her energy and kindness and good spirits and wisdom were all the more remarkable given her unusual and extreme disabilities. I will miss our yearly email exchanges, they always buoyed me, what is Kathy doing now? Amazing woman.

Dear Nancy and Scott, I am so sorry to hear of Kathy's passing. I didn't really know her as an adult but she and Nancy were my earliest friends and always good fun.
