Marilyn Gail Mahaffey

FAITH - Marilyn Gail Mahaffey, 70, of Faith, passed away Jan. 7, 2010, at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte.

Mrs. Mahaffey was born July 9, 1939, in Rowan County, a daughter of the late J. Ray McCombs and Mrs. Ethel Irene Peeler McCombs.

Gail was a 1957 graduate of Granite Quarry High School and was a kindergarten assistant for 25 years at Faith Elementary School,

She was a lifelong member of Shiloh Reformed Church, a member of the Women's Guild and was active in all phases of church work.

Her greatest love was her children, grandchildren and her husband.

Survivors are her husband, Mr. Winsten D. Mahaffey, whom she married Dec. 18, 1961; one son, Don Mahaffey and wife Tricey of Faith; two daughters, Kim Shores and husband Mark and Lynn Maycock and husband Bill, all of Faith. One brother survives, Verne McCombs and wife Mary Ellen; two sisters, Sue Teague and husband Gary and Kaye Margaret Fisher and husband Ken, all of Faith; sister-in-law Mrs. Jean McCombs of Faith; and grandchildren Jena Shores, Sam Shores, Leah Shores and Kipp Shores, Haley Mahaffey and Sawyer Mahaffey, Mallory Maycock and Shelby Maycock. She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews.

Service: The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Shiloh Reformed Church conducted by the Rev. Wayne Trexler, pastor, with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at Powles Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shiloh Reformed Church, P.O. Box 308, Faith, NC 28041.
