Ralph Oliphant Obituary
MOUNT ULLA - Ralph Marvin Oliphant, 74, of Umberger Road, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at his residence.
Born Jan. 25, 1940, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Joe Marvin and Ola Elizabeth Cowan Oliphant. Mr. Oliphant was a retired construction worker. Ralph served 10 years in the NC National Guard. He was a lifetime member of Back Creek Presbyterian Church, Mount Ulla.
Mr. Oliphant was preceded in death by his sisters, Thelma Junie Oliphant and Margaret Oliphant Benfield.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandra Clary Oliphant; children Carol McRorie (Eddie), Jill Andrews (Eric), Kelly Koppe (Jon), Ellen Hinkle (Tony) and J'Neile Migliore (Tim); two nephews raised in the home, David Brown and Roger Brown (Amy); sister Patty Jo Oliphant; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements: Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4 at Back Creek Presbyterian Church, Mount Ulla, with Rev. Bill Thrailkill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Back Creek Presbyterian Church, 2145 Back Creek Church Road, Mount Ulla, NC 28125

Ralph has now joined that growing band of cousins, uncles and aunts in heaven leaving us behind. I know he will be missed so much. Ralph always had a smile on his face. I guess I will always remember my first deer hunt with him. He was just such a special person. great memories of Ralph and Uncle Roger together.
