Bertha Smith Obituary

Bertha Royal Smith, 86, of Salisbury passed away Monday, February 15, 2016 at Magnolia Gardens Extended Care in Spencer. Born in Cabarrus County on March 21, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Mary Philemon and Harry F. Mills. Mrs. Smith worked at Fieldcrest Cannon Plant 16 and was retired from HBD Industries. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Junior Royal; second husband, Ralph Smith; daughter, Carolyn Joy Royal; son, Ricky Wayne Royal; sisters, Sadie Blackwelder and Shirley Cook; brother, Harry Mills, Jr. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Vickie London (Ricky) of Elizabethtown and Andrea “Angie” Henderson (Chris) of Salisbury; sisters, Ollie McBride of Charleston, SC and Barbara Casper of Texas; grandchildren, Shane Royal of China Grove, Dustin Henderson (Amanda) of Salisbury and Jerin Henderson of Salisbury; great-grandchildren, Braylin, Cash and Scarlett. Visitation: 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Southside Baptist Church, 500 Morlan Park Rd., Salisbury, NC 28146. Service: 1:00 PM Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Robin Albright and the Rev. Ricky Brown officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, 1350 S. Main St., China Grove, NC 28023. Memorials may be made to the Novant Health Rowan Medical Center Foundation, 130 Mocksville Ave., Salisbury, NC 28144. Lyerly Funeral Home is serving the Smith family.
