Spencer Riddle Obituary

1988 ~ 2011
Spencer Kimball Riddle, our family member, friend, and husband, traded in his lungs for a set of angel wings on December 11, 2011 after an awe-inspiring, 23 year battle, with cystic fibrosis. He fought a valiant fight with great patience and good cheer. Breathe easy dear Spencer!
Spencer was born in Bountiful, Utah on July 12, 1988 and spent his youth there, where he attended Bountiful High School. He had a keen mind and was an avid reader with an enthusiasm for a myriad of subjects. He loved logging onto Starbright World every day and volunteering his time mentoring young minds and inspiring hundreds of chronic and terminally ill teens. He was passionate about helping others. One of his fondest dreams was to work as a psychologist or teacher, working to shape and mold the lives of young kids.
Someone said God takes his favorites home early. We agree. Spencer was a favorite - of God's, of ours, of those who cared for him, and of all with whom he came in contact. He touched every single life which crossed his path. His engaging smile revealed his king-sized forgiving heart. His faith, his kindness, his sensitivity to others, his selflessness, and his patience in suffering touched even the hearts of strangers and are an inspiration to all of us.
Spencer is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Nikki (Johnson) Riddle, formerly of Bird City, Kansas, and by his mother, Pamela Pickett Riddle, of Bountiful, Utah. Spencer's father, Mark A. Riddle, preceded Spencer in death by six months. Spencer is also survived by ten siblings, Joseph Riddle (Laura), Brigham Riddle (Blair), Heber Riddle, John Riddle, David Riddle, Cassandra Sanford (Jacob), Isaac Riddle, George Riddle, Michael Riddle, and Merry Riddle. Additionally, Spencer is survived by his grandparents, Chauncey and Bertha (Allred) Riddle of Provo, UT.
We express our deepest thanks to the many friends and family who loved, supported and cared for Spencer during his life.
In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the Spencer K. Riddle Account to Zion's Bank 150 S Fort Lane Layton, UT 84041 to be used to pay it forward and to help others fighting their battles against cystic fibrosis.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Chapel located at 3707 South 800 West, Bountiful, Utah. A viewing and celebration of Spencer's life will be held in the Relief Society room at the church on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. (please wear red.) A viewing will also take place on Saturday prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 am.
Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.

To Nikki and all those touched by Spencer during his much to short a lifetime. I was blessed to have watched a close and loving friendship develop between my daughter and Spencer during some of the darkest days ever felt by our family. Honestly Spencer was a lifeline tossed to her, and she held on and got past a 9 month hospitalization, to many interventional radiology procedures as well as the loss of most of her hair, and going from 130 to just over 70 lbs. Each child is a blessing, but some children are put on this earth for a far greater reason. May Spencer be breathing easily and wrapped in gods arms. I for one look forward to getting to heaven and being able to talk to Spencer once again. Nikki thank you for all your love you have for Spencer and the SBW kids. May the lord look upon you and envelope you with his love... Take a few deep breaths and remember that Spencer was put here for a reason, and was called back for another reason we will may never understand.

I knew Spencer since my first year of high school. He was a sweet kid, I remember being at his moms house and we would watch movies and I would play and tease his cat. He always had a good sense of humor and a positive look on life. He was someone you could call up and end up talking to for hours. Such a sweet kid, I'm glad he will be able to breath now. I pray for his wife and his mother in this hard time. He is someone who will be missed dearly. A dear friend who meant alot. R.I.P Spence. I'll miss you!

What a spectacular and wonderful person! We were very lucky to have you as a part of the family even for just a short time. You brought a lot to my cousin Nikki's life along with her family. You are going to be greatly missed by not only them but the many many people whose lives you have touched. Our prayers are with Nikki, her family and Spencer's family. God Bless..... The Kruegers

As a kid spencer was goofy in his own way. He would always want to be around his brothers no matter how much they tortured him. He would make us laugh just so he could hang with his older brothers. He always had a funny sense of humor!!!! RIP spencer!

Dear Nikki Riddle and Family, I never had the opportunity to chat with Spencer, but through his loving, caring, compassionate and total devotion from his wife I learned a lot. Nikki please know that you are a unique one of a kind. I have never been touched so much as the story of Spencer and Nikki has touched me, and I'm sure I only know a fraction of the story. As I write this I smile =) as I know Spencer is in heaven with our Heavenly Father having the time of his life. Sincerely, Rhonda Graley
