BETTY VERNON Obituary

Betty Ercanbrack Vernon 1928 ~ 2010 Betty, age 82, loving mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend, returned to her Heavenly Father, husband, and family, at her home from cancer on December 31, 2010.Betty was born June 26, 1928 in Mammoth, Utah to Harry LaVar Ercanbrack and Grace LaVon Larson. She married Elton Vernon November 5, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. She held various positions in the LDS church in Wanship, Murray and South Jordan. She filled our lives with happiness through her generosity, fun loving nature and that sweet, sweet smile that lifted people in her presence. To her family, she leaves behind the knowledge that she truly loved them, and the gospel. We rejoice at her reunion of those who preceded her in death, her parents, husband, brothers LaMar and Ron, and son-in-law Randy Nielson. She is survived by daughters Lori Vernon, Kris Nielson, Robyn Vernon and grandchildren Sid and Kayla. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the River View 9th Ward 11420 South 700 West. Friends may call at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy. (10600 S) Tuesday 6-8:00 p.m. or Wednesday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment Wanship Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Online condolences may be shared at www.jenkins-soffe.com

We loved Aunt Betty and will miss her smile and happy contenance and her family stories. Her funeral was wonderful and was a tribute to her of the many people who loved her and cared about her and about the family. Our prayers are with you for peace.

Dear Robyn, Kris, Lori, Sid and Kayla: It is very sad to hear of Betty's passing, and we send deepest sympathy. I always remember her laugh, especially when I hear it reflected in Robyn's. She brought joy to many of us; her home was always a welcoming and happy place. I hope that joyful times will soon come again. My thoughts are with your family.

Lori, Kris and Robyn,

When we moved away from your family, I recall how happy I was upon learning that your family was moving as well and would be near by. Betty was such a good friend to our mother and made me feel especially welcome in your home. Though we are separated by distance, I do and will always remember good times and think of your mother with the warmth and friendly cheer that I appreciated and miss.

Lori, Kris, Robyn, Sid and Kayla,

Your family has been part of my life for a lot of years - probably more than I want to admit. I'm so glad we got to see your mom/grandma last Tuesday. She was still smiling at that point even though I know she wasn't very comfortable. We love you and know that although you will miss her, you will find comfort knowing she is with your dad and other family members. I'm sorry I won't be able to be there but will be there with you in spirit. Take care of yourselves and find joy the memories.

I have several fond memories of your mother/grandmother and family. I loved coming to your house because of the color television. It made watching the Wizard of Oz much more enjoyable. Also, the freshly roasted pine nuts were to die for!

Your mother is going to be greatly missed, but she is in a much greater place. We will have a great reunion with her in the hereafter. I enjoyed the great talks we had with each other on the phone, and she proably had a great reunion with previous family members. You are all in my prayers.
