Braddock Carroll Harris
1934 ~ 2011
Braddock Carroll Harris, 77, of Draper, Utah, died December 1, 2011 due to complications from Alzheimer's disease and multiple medical problems. He moved from Waco, Texas in 2009 to be near his family in Utah.
Born September 27, 1934 in Gilmer, Texas, Brad was the son of the late Benjamin Curry and Jenny Mae Harris. On May 27, 1956, he was united in marriage to Virginia Wood in Waco, Texas. He was a member of Hilltop United Methodist Church in Sandy, Utah.
Brad attended Baylor University on a football scholarship, and graduated in 1957 with a major in drama. He was fortunate to play in both the 1954 Gator Bowl and the 1957 Sugar Bowl. Brad worked as an insurance agent in Waco, Texas for 35 years, retiring in 1998. During the 1980's, he also co-owned a well known peach orchard.
Brad's lifelong hobbies were fishing and hunting. He was an avid sports fan - especially of the Baylor teams. In recent years he particularly enjoyed the football and girls basketball teams.
Brad is survived by his wife, Virginia; three daughters, Katie (Glenn) Taylor, Aikin, SC, Dixie (Benjamin Sokolow) Harris, Draper, UT, Susan (Benton) Glaze, Twin Falls, ID; seven grandchildren, Geoff Taylor, Mark Taylor, Valerie Sokolow, Annelise Sokolow, Hanna Glaze, Rachael Glaze, and Victoria Glaze. He is also survived by three sisters, Joyce Larey, Myrtie Green, and Jo Nell Annette; numerous nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at Hilltop United Methodist Church, 985 E 10600 S, Sandy, Utah 84094.
A Texas memorial service will be held next summer in Hubbard, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Baylor University, or charity of your choice.
The family wishes to express their appreciation for the loving care and support Brad received at the Wentworth in Draper, Utah, and Curo Hospice.

Ms. Harris and family, I am deeply sorrowed in the loss of your husband, dad and grandfather all of you were so nice to me when you were in Waco. Brad will be in my prayers along with you and your family.
