Brett Walker's Friends
August 7, 2013
On behalf of Brett's wife, Sheron, and many of Brett's friends, I have the honor to invite you to a very special memorial service celebrating Brett's life on Friday, August 23, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at McFarlin Memorial Church, Fenn Hall, 419 S. University Boulevard, in Norman, Oklahoma. We hope you will be able to join as we honor and remember Brett and support Sheron during this difficult time.
In response to the many requests made to help in some way, Sheron has lovingly honored Brett's memory by establishing an educational trust to ensure his children's future in the way he would have wanted. In lieu of flowers, or as appropriate expressions of sympathy, contributions to this trust for Sarah, Sam and Emma would be very much appreciated. The children will receive the names of those who contribute to this trust. Contributions can be tendered to The Emma Lea Walker Trust Fund through U. S. Bank, P. O. Box 56, Draper, Utah 84020. Questions may be directed to Kate Clifford at U. S. Bank, telephone (801)816-9052.
We hope to see everyone at the memorial service. Please remember Sheron and Brett's family in your prayers. Thank you.

Dear Walker Family,
I'm a recent fan of Brett's… I found his music a few months ago and loved it. My friends and I even used a clip of “Out of Sight” for a school video project. I had been working on a cover of Out of Sight as well, and was planning to show him when it was done. A few days ago on the 25th, I found his YouTube page and sent him a message:
“Brett,
Just wanted to say thanks for singing / writing the song “Out of Sight”. I heard it on a “Best of undiscovered 80s” compilation a few months ago and it has since become one of my all-time favorite songs. I've been trying to cover it but I can't seem to do it justice yet.
You should re-record it someday… [*because he had only released it as a demo]
Thanks,
Jacob”
And I was really excited to see if he'd ever get back to me. A few days go by and then today I suddenly hear of Brett's passing via the YouTube videos that I'd play.
I've never met him, but even as some random fan, I'm really saddened. Brett's songs are on daily rotation along with my other favorites, and I'm slightly uplifted knowing that he'll live on through his music. I just wanted you all to know that he brought a smile to a lot of peoples faces, even ones he's never met, and that he'll still inspire us to carry on. One day soon I'm going to dedicate my version of Out of Sight (and some others) to you all… I'd love for you to listen when the time comes.
Thanks for reading, we're all sending positive thoughts your way…

Brett Walker's lyrics were brilliant and were true insight into who he was. "Give Me Back Tomorrow" is one of my favorite songs ever. He will live forever through his music.
Rest in peace.
