Guy Malmborg Obituary

1952 ~ 2013
Guy was born April 4, 1952 and left this world on June 6, 2013 while doing one of the things he loved most.
Guy was born in Garfield, Utah and was raised in Magna where he attended Cyprus High School on a part time basis. He might have graduated with his class in 1970, however there was a war raging in Vietnam, and in 1969, on his 17th birthday, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served with the 1st Air and Naval Gunfire Liaison Company and served overseas with WESPAC ground forces. Besides this, Guy was a husband, father, brother, grandfather, master gunsmith, scuba instructor, rescue diver, drummer, photographer, welder, auto body technician, law enforcement officer, motorcycle mechanic, fly fisherman, expert rifleman and generally a good guy. He was optomistic and conservative in his views. He is known to have run into a burning building one night to rescue trapped and injured people, and it is said and witnessed by many, that he even chased down a car one night on foot, to get a hit and run, drunken driver out from behind the steering wheel and hold him until the police showed up. Guy was one to get involved, and feared nothing, except maybe Dams.
He is survived by his twin sister, Gay Flesher, sisters April (Dann) Nelson, Robyn (Steve) Wallwork and his stepbrother Steve (Dottie) Johnson. His three sons Wade (Jenny) Malmborg, Robert (Elke) Malmborg, Michael J. Hamblin and his extended family, Cassie, Moki and Maggie. Guy has three grandsons Austin, Garrett and Mason, and one granddaughter Abbie.
Guy is preceeded in death by his wife and best friend Shanna (Sammy) Malmborg, his mother Audrey Matthews Malmborg, his father Walter G. Malmborg, his brother and sister in law Craig S. (Glenna) Malmborg and his extended family, Scooter, Suzie, Peppy, Brandy, and Chops.
Funeral services will be held Friday June 14, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Brighton 1st Ward 2925 E Bengal Blvd. Cottonwood Heights.

I knew him for a short time
But the times that I did have was always a hoot
He had a dry sense of humor
BUT HE WAS A GREAT PERSON AND A GREAT MARINE TO KNOW

Dear Malmborg Family, I went to High school with Guy and Gay. So sorry for your loss Gay. I had a good time reconnecting with Guy at the local Reams up by his home. It was a treat when he would come thru my check out line. He is reunited with his best friend now. Miss you Guy ... Class of 70 Cyprus High ...

I did not expect to see Guy's picture looking at me from the obituary page last Wednesday. He was my gunsmith and friend, and I gave him a lot of medical advice free of charge. I will miss him

I was so shocked and saddened to learn of Guy's passing. I've been taking care of his animals for many years. He was such a kind, sweet man and loved his dogs so much. I recently saw him and learned of his wife's passing; now he's gone too. My thoughts are with the entire family; I'm so sorry for your loss.

We are saddened at Guy's passing. He was such a great guy! We had fun going out to shoot with him on a few occasions and we always looked forward to seeing him at the monthly MCL/MCLA meetings. We know that he and Sammi are together and that death is just a passage way to eternity. Rest well our friend, all our love--

Guy,my brother,we were lucky to know you as a person that shared similar interests, especially in the gun world.
You will always be my brother as a Marine and Viet Nam Vet. Your pain from losing Sammie is now over and you have an eternity to spend without pain or sorrow to spend with her.

Dad,

You will be missed deeply. There are many things you taught me through life and a few I may not have paid enough attention. I will cherish the memories and look forward to an opportunity the next time we meet to blow some ammo, whip a fly or have a hug. I will follow the example you provided with Sammy for cherishing my wife and family. God be with you.

Guy was my Gunsmith, but more important he was my Friend. He will be missed by many. Let me share the following thoughts with the family. "Death isn"t what it seems to be...Whatever we were to each other, we still are...nothing has changed...Laugh at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Smile, think of me and pray for me. Know your prayers are wonderful gifts and your thoughts are like a gentle tap on my shoulder...Please understand that all is well."

Marine, my brother, Guy Malmborg. We are trying to grasp the fact that you are no longer with us on this side. I have appreciated you as a friend and fellow Marine. I could feel your pain when you lost Sammy - and what a happy time it must be now for your reunion with her. I will miss swapping sea stories, talks of Viet Nam and the education you provided me on weapon problems. Until we meet again, my brother. "Stand down my brother" Semper Fi

Sorry dear cousin, we won't be seeing eachother in August but I guess the Lord needed you. He seems to hjave a need for the young men in our family as we have lost quite a few at an early age. I moved and didn't get to associate with you a lot and I feel bad for that. I truly do love you and will miss you like crazy! Peace be with your sweet family. Much love, cousin Karen.

I hope you'll understand,
Although these words are few.
Our Sympathy's sincere;
Our thoughts and prayers with you.

Your loss is shared by many
Who knew your loved one well.
So, caring thoughts are with you,
Much more than words can tell.

Just some words to let you know
How very much we care . . .
May you feel the strength of God,
As we hold you close in prayer.
