Jacqueline White Obituary

1935 ~ 2017
Most of us are defined by our resigned acceptance of the conventional, even when convention is framed by inequity. But for Jackie White - convention was something to be questioned, debated and occasionally challenged.
In the late 1960's and early 70's, Jackie often expressed her frustration at the unequal pay and sexism that women too often faced in the workplace. In an opinion piece, she authored at the time, she summarized it this way - "Work like a dog, think like a man and get paid like a woman!"
Inequity was her nemesis. "A dissenting opinion from a man is objective thinking," she wrote. "From a woman, it's called being negative."
It would be an extreme understatement to say she was ahead of her time. But her time ended suddenly and unexpectedly on August 3, 2017, at the age of 82, when she died of natural causes while surrounded by cherished friends.
Jackie White was born in Salt Lake City on June 19, 1935. She married Reed Francis White in 1953. Reed died in 2001. She is survived by her son Brad White, 63, of Los Angeles and her grandson Schuyler "Skye" White, 25, of Vancouver, BC.
Brad and Skye would like to invite Jackie's friends and family to an informal wake to celebrate her life, on Saturday, August 26 at 3 p.m. in Holladay, UT. To get exact location details and RSVP, please contact Brad via email at [email protected]
