Jamie Paulos Obituary

1973 ~ 2012
In loving memory of Jamie Votsis Paulos, age 39, who passed away on October 12, 2012 while waiting for a liver transplant.
Jamie was born August 18, 1973 in Salt Lake City, UT to Apostolos and Elpitha Votsis. She married Bill Paulos in Salt Lake City, UT on February 17, 1996.
After graduating from Highland High School, Jamie attended the University of Utah, graduating with a BS degree in Elementary Education. She began an 18 year career as a devoted teacher at Riverton Elementary. Her dedication and concern for her students endeared her to many children and their parents. They often returned to her classroom to express their gratitude years later after graduation.
Jamie was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church and was devoted to her Faith, her Family, and her Greek Heritage.
She was a loving wife to her husband and wonderful mother to her two adorable children Yanni and Elpitha. Jamie was very creative with everything she did. She loved to scrapbook and enjoyed entertaining. She enjoyed watching her kids play sports and loved spending time with her sisters and friends.
Despite everything Jamie endured with her health, she never complained or felt sorry for herself; instead living her life with grace and courage. She leaves a void in the lives of all that knew her and will be missed dearly.
Jamie is survived by her loving husband, Bill; son, Yanni; daughter, Elpitha; parents, Apostolos and Elpitha Votsis; sisters, Joy (Todd) Kapos, Angie (Steve) Hillas; mother-in-law Sofia Paulos, brother-in-law, Ted Paulos; sister-in-law, Stacy (George) Kournianos; nieces and nephews, John and Elpitha Kapos, Yanni, Apostoli and Nikolas Hillas, Anthony and Sophia Kournianos; grandparents, Joseph and Evangelia Sifantonakis; uncle, Jim (Katina) Sifantonakis; aunt Maria Katsanevas and cousins Elpitha (George), Sifi, Eva, Yanni, Katerina, Angie, and many aunts, uncles and cousins in Greece.
"Mama, we love you and will miss you very much" Yanni and Elpitha
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral 279 South 300 West, Salt Lake City, Utah. On Monday, October 15, there will be a viewing at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral from 6-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Interment to follow funeral services at Mt. Olivet, 1342 East 500 South.

He said you are nice and knowing our son can have hard time in school, we knew then that you are one of the wonderful teacher our son had. What an amazing teacher! Our family will miss you so much, you touched us so much. You taught Taylor to believe in her own abilities (and even creid at how much she improved), and you always loved Max even when he was really difficult. You helped us raise our kids and taught us a lot as parents. We love you so much!

Hello Paul and family, please accept my sincere sympathy at a very hard time while you were dealing with the loss of your daughter and also trying to handle my needs at your rental as well. I'm so sorry. I was not aware that you had so much on your mind to deal with.
I am truly sorry for the loss of your beautiful daughter. How very heart breaking, I couldn't imagine with 4 daughters of my own. I so sorry I needed you during her time of need. I feel terribly selfish. Please feel comfort to know that she is in a place where there is no pain and suffering. That she is peaceful and happy and preparing things for you all to be with her again.
Bless you always,

What a shock to hear of Jamie's passing. I had no idea she was ill.
Last year, Yanni was in my third grade class at Butler Elementary School. Jamie was a job-share teacher at Riverton Elementary School and had every Monday off. She came every Monday morning without fail to help us in our classroom. We were so grateful to her for all of the hours of work she gave us. I always looked forward to seeing her and we had a good time talking during recess.
Yanni was one of the smartest students in our class and Jamie made sure that every book report, weekly homework assignment, etc. given to the class were completed on time and to the very highest quality by Yanni.
It was evident that she was completely devoted to her children and loved them very much.
Please accept my deepest sympathy and may God bless and comfort you during this time.
I love you Yanni and I'm so sorry.
Love,
Margaret Wilkin

Jamie was a dear friend of mine at Riverton Elementary. I was often influenced by her love for teaching and the difference she made in her students' lives. She was a fun member of our staff and our hallways won't be the same without her. Jamie loved her family and often shared stories about her children. Bill and Jamie created a great life for their children. She was such a proud mother and loved them both so much. She must have learned this care and compassion from her parents who we know stayed by her side throughout the last few weeks. Thanks to her family for sharing Jamie with her Riverton family. We all loved her very much.
