Jared Olson Obituary

In Loving Memory
Lehi, Utah-Jared Carl Olson, 37, of Lehi, UT, passed away surrounded by loving family on October 18, 2013 after courageously battling brain cancer for two years.
Jared was born March 15, 1976 to C. William and Linda B. Olson in Grants Pass, OR, where he spent his childhood. His family was everything to him. They were his best friends. From his early years, he enjoyed and excelled in sports and academics. Football, basketball, and baseball were among his favorites. Jared was always the life of the party and his quick-witted comebacks were enjoyed by many. After graduating in 1994 from Grants Pass High School, he served a two year mission for the LDS church in New York, New York - a fitting place for a life-long Yankee fan. After his mission he attended and graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Finance. There, he met his wife, Leslee, and they were married in the Logan LDS Temple on December 29th, 2001. They eventually settled in Lehi, UT with their four beautiful children.
Jared has worked for the State of Utah as a Bank Examiner for the past 8 years. He was very active in his church, serving in many different capacities. He loved college football (particularly the Oregon Ducks), and anything else that happened to be on ESPN. He also loved movies. But more than anything else, he loved being with his family. He loved family vacations, spending time with his wife, watching dance recitals, and playing ball with his sons.
Jared is survived by his wife, Leslee, four children - Brynlee(9), Jace(8), Drew(4), and Averie(2), his father C. William (Margie) Olson of Highland, siblings Marianne (Todd) Stevens of Highland, Janette (Bill) Richan of Highland, Julee (Greg) Abel of Ashland, OR, Neil (Emily) Olson of Draper, and Brian (Shalyse) Olson of Salem, OR.
Jared was preceded in death by his sweet mother, Linda Bischoff Olson, brother Vance (infant), and his Grandparents.
A viewing will be held Friday, Oct. 25th from 6-8pm at the Hunter Chase LDS Bldg, 2198 Foxtrail Drive, Lehi, UT. The family prayer and closing of the casket will be held that evening. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 26th at 11:00am at the Traverse Mountain Stake Center, 2030 W. Chapel Ridge Rd, Lehi, UT. Friends can visit with the family prior to the service from 9:30-10:45. Burial services will be at Logan City Cemetery in Logan, UT.

We love Jared and his wonderful family. We were lucky to have him in the Geertsen clan. He added so much fun, laughter and warmth to our family reunions at Bear Lake. I have never met someone so humble, kind, or easy to talk to. He was literally friendly to everyone and held no guile. Leslee to you and your children our prayers are with you each day. May God encircle you in the arms of His love and pour out peace on your family at this time. Jared will be deeply missed but I cling to my testimony that you will be reunited in heaven someday. Love, Michelle, David, Abbie and Cameron

Jared really is a great man, and he will certainly be missed. Yet, the legacy and love he left with his family will burn bright for generations to come.

How well I remember when he was born! He always hated his nickname of "Baby Beans" that my daughter gave him! He grew into an incredible man and our hearts ache for his sweet family that he has left behind. HE LIVES in another sphere until the day he will be reunited with all his loved ones. Our love and prayers to all the Olsen families. Etta, Niki and Keleigh Theis

I had the pleasure of meeting Jared while attending Utah State. He and Leslee had just started dating. The one thing I specifically recall about Jared is not only his quick whit but his ability to put everyone at ease and make them feel comfortable and welcome. I remember Jared having a lot of integrity and standing up for his values. Although, I don't recall the exact details that occurred I do remember him standing up for an individual that wasn't there and saying how he didnt agree with ill speaking of others. That will always stand out in my mind and shows the caliber that Jared was and will always be. I extend my condolences to Leslee, their children and His Family.

Jared was a great friend. My life is better for having known him because of all the good times we had, and the example he set. When I die, I hope I have as positive an affect on other people as he had. He lived a good life. Much too short, but very good.

It is sad for me to find this news. I have a lot of fond memories of the Olson family. We were boys together in the same ward, and though Jared was a couple of years older than I was, he was always extremely kind to everyone. I remember him as being of the greatest of character and full of strength and dignity. I am grateful to have such good memories of him. Please accept my condolences for your loss, but I believe that you will be together again!

Amazing family. Our prayers are with you.

I remember Jared as a witty, fun cousin. He and my husband, David, got to know each other because of their same interest in finance (what they both graduated in from Utah State). We will miss him and pray for his wife and family. We know we will see him and his great mom again in the next life!!!
