RAY DABB Obituary

Ray L. Dabb North Ogden, Utah Ray Leo Dabb, 84, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 in Ogden.He was born September 22, 1925 in Ogden, a son of Howard A. and Amanda C. Anderson Dabb. He was educated in the Weber County Schools and graduated from Weber College. Ray married Elaine Brimley in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Sept 21, 1956. They were blessed with one daughter and two sons. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a two year mission in the Southern States Mission from 1946 to 1948. He served in many callings in both stakes and wards during his life including Stake Clerk, High Councilman and Executive Secretary. Ray began and operated Wasatch Floral for 40 years, then sold the business and worked for 10 years as a buyer and designer for Ensign Wholesale Florist in Salt Lake City. He participated in design schools and conducted management seminars for professional florists in many areas throughout the United States. He taught design classes at the B.Y.U. Ogden center for many years until they closed their Ogden branch. He was one of the founders of the Utah Nurseryman Association and was its first secretary. Beginning in 1993, Ray managed the business office and directed many of the affairs for Ben Lomond Heating and Air Conditioning. He served as president of the North Ogden Kiwanis and was on the North Ogden Beautification Committee, Weber State Alumni Board, and served a term on the North Ogden Planning Commission. His favorite hobby was working in the garden and growing many fruits and vegetables to share with neighbors and friends. He preserved many hundreds of bottles of vegetables, pickles, sauces and juices, all grown in his garden. The family wishes to thank the staffs of the Lomond Peak Care Facility and Applegate Hospice. Surviving are his wife, Elaine, of North Ogden; one daughter and two sons, Jean Ann Dabb, Fredericksburg, VA; Howard K. (Ann) Dabb, North Ogden; Michael R. (Angela) Dabb, Milton, WA; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden 16th Ward Chapel, 205 E. Elberta Dr. Friends may call at the Ward Chapel on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery. Funeral Directors, Lindquist's North Ogden Mortuary.
