Many an hour I spent in the piano studio in the Litchfield household. Susan was a patient and warm teacher, and gave me the piano foundation I still work (play!) from today. Thanks Susan!

I was sick most of 2010, but I ran into her at TOSH when I went in for a Dr. Appointment in September 2010. She seems happy and was doing well. So imagine my shock when I heard that she had passed away. I met her at the TOSH pool. She was so friendly and engaging. Always wanting to know everything about me and about my children. She was so excited that my daughter taught school and that another one would soon be teaching as well. She always made you feel like you were the only one that mattered. She was a Christlike woman and she was loved and appreciated by many.

Dear Litchfield Family,
Thank you for being such a great influence in my life. Your mother was like a second mom to me (given the amount of time I spent in your home!) She truly is an angel and her good works on this earth will never be forgotten. My family and I continue to remember your family in our prayers during this difficult transition. Thank you again for sharing your mother with me and so many other people!

I became acquainted with Susan at the TOSH pool. She was such a friendly, warm person and we soon became acquainted and she soon found out I was born and raised in Moroni. So we had many, many talks about growing up in Sanpete and the people we both knew. She has been greatly missed at the pool. She was such a warm and friendly person. She was such a lovely person both inside and out. I am grateful that I got to know her. Marlene Morley Stephenson, Taylorsville, UT

I loved Susan and found her to be as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. She never complained, or expressed any negative words about anyone or her trials in life. She blessed all of the Cottonwood 1st Ward with her beautiful music, Relief Society lessons and her love. I will miss her.

Susan was a wonderful person who touched so many lives in the most positive ways. I had the oppurtunity to visit with her a few days before she passed away, memories flooded in as I walked into the house everyone hung out at in my childhood as we talked she stopped and updated me on where all of the neighborhood kids were and how they were all doing just as a mom would. She has the biggest heart and will be missed dearly here on earth but know she will still watch over us all from the heavens.

I knew your adorable mom from the time we were in Kindergarten through High School. She was always a delight. Connie, your mom and me celebrated our birthdays together as we were growing up. I especially remember your mom at this time of year snuggling down in the soft hay, wrapped in warm blankets and giggling on sleigh rides. Susan was always a loyal friend to everyone.

A lot of moms will put up with the kids running through her yard (and sometimes the house) while playing night games. Not too many would do it as often and with such a big smile though. No matter how late we were there I don't think she ever told us it was time to go home, just let us play until we'd had enough, and then welcomed us back again the next night. So many great memories in that neighborhood and Sue's home was at the center of a lot of them. Thanks Sue and the rest of the Litchfield clan for helping raise me and the entire neighborhood family.

I had the opportunity to meet Susan when she substituted for a class I work with as a school social worker. Even in the few brief meetings we had, I was able to feel Susan's amazing spirit and commitment to her life as a teacher. She could see the good in everyone she came in contact with and make each person feel special. I am sad to hear of her passing, but know she lived a life full of service and giving. My prayers are with her family in this time of loss.

Dear Lantz, Lorn, Laryn, Lori and Lynn,
We send our heartfelt prayers, and we pray that the spirit of comfort will touch each of you and your families. For me, Rebecca, meeting Susan was a ray of sunshine and fun. She truly welcomed me into the Sorensen clan. The days past of family reunions are fondly remember by us. Aunt Susan was so outgoing, fun and intuitive. We do miss her, but what a wonderful reunion with your Grandparents, Miles and Jewel. Love, Jerry and Rebecca

Lori and Family:
Paul and I are so sorry for the loss of your mother. We hope that the memories and teachings of your mom will remain with you forever.
Be Still
Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.
If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.
Thanks for being you, Lori we love you very much,

I am so greatfull to have been raised by a woman who has touched so many lives. Reading what everyone has said reminds me how truley lucky my brothers and sister are to have a mom like Susan. We could always count on her unconditional love and support. My mom was such an example of hard work and disapline, and was able to instill that ethic into all her children. I can say that I had the perfect childhood with the perfect Mother.

Dear Litchfields,
Your mom and my friend was a special lady. Even though we haven't lived in the neighborhood for years, just saying her name brings a flood of memories to mind. She was a great mom who was always willing to have a houseful of kids in and out of her home. Her smile and infectious laugh was "Sue". I bet she's lighting up "the room" right now as she travels among family and friends. They must be thrilled to have her "home" and we are sad to see her leave. You've got big shoes to fill as you follow her example!
With sympathy,
Margaret and Perry Gooch - Fountain Hills, Arizona

It has been such a joy and an honor for our family to know the Litchfield family these past 10 years. Susan quickly became one of my dearest friends and I am going to miss her more than I can put into words. The world has lost the greatest and kindest piano teacher of all time. Susan always went the extra mile to make EVERYONE she came in contact with feel better and encouraged. She tackled every challenge thrown at her with courage and faith. I'm glad she is with Litch and her parents again, but am heartbroken for the rest of us who have to remain here without her.

Susan has always been one of my heroes. Her selfless love and concern for all around her warmed my heart. Whenever I talked to her, even when she was battling her cancer, she was always thinking of me and not herself. She was a skilled and dynamic teacher. Her talents were far reaching--from home economics, to music, and much more. I will always hold in my heart memories of her smile, laugh, and contagious love for those around her. Prayers and thoughts to her family and friends. We love you Susan!

Dear Litchfields, Your mother was like a sister to everyone who walked through her door. She is and will always be to me "Susie Sunshine." She had an open door policy and everyone who walked in was welcome and had an unhurried conversation with her. She gave you her full attention. Susan organized so many things for the benefit of the neighborhood and others -- swimming lessons, events to support scouting. She was beautiful inside and out. I am sad to have her gone from our presence. She will always be in my heart and the heart of countless people who loved and admired her. Thanks for sharing your mother with all of us. Pam Blackham

I will never forget being in the car with Sister Litchfield, I believe we driving home from having picked-up several boxes of corn which she would later bottle, and Lori and I were talking about what we would do if we won a million dollars. Lori and I had big plans and then we asked Sister Litchfield what she would do. "I would buy sewing machines for women in Mexico." I was forever impressed. Sister Litchfield was always selfless, loving and welcoming. She had the best pantry around -- I loved her dried apricot fruit leather, yum!
