Walter Francis Neff 1934 ~ 2010 Our loving husband, father, Papa and brother died at home on January 27, 2010, surrounded by his wife and daughters. He endured courageously and fought valiantly against melanoma. He was born on February 5th, 1934 in the Bronx, NY to the late John and Catherine Neff. He graduated from Manhattan College in 1956 and served in the United States Army. Walter worked for American Express and in 1981 he was transferred to Salt Lake City from the East Coast and retired in 2000. Walter was a great fan of the New York Yankees and wore their cap proudly wherever he went. He was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles. He leaves his loving wife of 47 years, Frances; daughters Patricia McClellan and her husband David, and Catherine Manning and her husband Thomas of Somers, CT. Papa will be missed by his grandchildren Tabitha, Christopher, Samantha, Dominic, Michael and Nicholas. He also leaves behind sister Dorothy (James) Dignetti; two brothers John and Tom (Eileen) Neff; and nieces Jennifer and Caryn. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 29th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1945 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City, where a viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Murray City Cemetery, 5490 S. Vine St., Murray.
