I worked with Gary for two years at the mines, he was a very hard worker and he always made me laugh. Gary was a great man with a real passion for life. I am very blessed to have had him as a friend. My prayers are with you.

Dear LaVon,

My mother-in-law has sent along that your Gary has gone ahead to what will surely be a glorious eternal life together. I remain so very grateful for the kindness you two showed to me so many years ago; the basement was perfect for those months leading to the correct decision. We will surely meet again - if you are ever in Texas' Hill Country please allow us to return the favor (I'm the Branch President in Fredericksburg.) Gary is secure with the Savior - we know it!

Gary will be greatly missed. Jonathan and I are deeply saddened that he is gone. On our trips to St. George we would enjoy popping in and playing cards with Gary and LaVon. In fact the trips we took to St. George without stopping in weren’t half as fun and getting together with the Bascoms! Gary was always so kind and fun to be with. Upon leaving we would always comment to each other, how great of a guy Gary was and how we should visit more often. Again, he will be greatly missed. We send our love and prayers to LaVon and her family.

I've worked with Gary for many years and would enjoy talking to him about BYU football and golf. I will remember Gary for his kindness & friendly personality. I remember one year I told him how much I like Dr. Pepper, well couple of months later on my birthday he showed up with a 6 pack of Dr. Pepper. That's the kind of man he is. He loved to talk about his days of playing basketball in High School. We would always joke that we would have a collection jar to earn money for Tiger Woods when he was out for a year or if he didn't win a tournament! One other important quality that I admire about Gary is that I've never heard him say a bad thing about anybody and I will miss his sincere kindness. We love you Gary!

What an amazing man we have lost, there was always a happy presence when Gary was around. He made everyone he met feel like they had a place in his heart. This world will be a different place without him.

Love you Uncle Gary!
