Momilani Heimuli Obituary

Feb. 4, 1956 - Aug. 19, 2012
Momilani Lei Heimuli returned to her Heavenly home on Sunday, August 19, 2012 after a valiant fight with a very aggressive and persistent cancer. She was born on February 4, 1956, the eldest daughter to Stanley K. Loo (deceased) and Phoebe L. Loo.
Her love and desire for serving others was shown through various callings she held throughout her life; Primary presidency and teacher, Young Women presidency and teacher, Sunday School teacher, Relief Society teacher, Visiting Teacher, Compassionate Service Leader and Relief Society President
Momi also served a full-time LDS mission in the South Dakota Rapid City Mission. "Momi" will eternally serve as an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Momi was born on Oahu and during her very early years moved to the Big Island of Hawaii where she attended school and graduated from Honoka'a High School. Momi chose to enter cosmetology school, completed the program, and became a beautician. She returned to Oahu where she worked as a beautician at BYU-HC and there met and married the love of her life Martin.
Through this union, their eternal family began with the birth of their son Martin, Jr. and a couple of years later their daughter Marsha. They spent the first ten years on the Big Island of Hawaii raising their family and then opted to move to Utah in 1996 in search of greater opportunities. The choice was magnified as her children began to compete in many athletic events in the public school system and she and Martin were their #1 FANS! Together they have raised two amazing children, dedicated their life to their family and strive daily to maintain an eternal perspective.
Momi always enjoyed watching various sports activities that her children and husband competed in throughout the years. The apple of her eye is her little sweet granddaughter, Taleah, whom she adored, and will cherish throughout eternity. She also enjoyed every holiday that she spent with her family, and during these times felt comfort and love.
Momi is survived by her loving husband Martin Heimuli, Sr., her son, Martin Heimuli, Jr., daughters, Marsha Heimuli, Lisa Fuller, Kasthy Koula and Kalesita Niu, granddaughter Pania Taleah Heimuli-Kaanga and 10 more grandchildren. Momi is survived by her loving mother, Phoebe Leilani Loo, brothers, Mark and Matthew (Donna) Loo, James Poore, and sisters, Maile Loo and Kimberly Baker. She was also a proud auntie to many loving nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life and also viewings will be held at:
Utah Parkway Stake Center 2801 W. 620 N. Provo, Utah. On Friday, August 24th, 2012 there will be a viewing from 7:00p.m - 9:00p.m., with a special family service from 9:00-9:30p.m. On Saturday, August 25, 2012 there will be a viewing from 10:00a.m. - 10:45a.m. with services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at the Provo cemetery, located at 610 South State Street.
The Heimuli and Loo family would like to thank, ALPHA Hospice, Central Utah Clinic, and the Orem Rehabilitation Staff, doctors, and nurses for providing Momilani with excellent care over the past 11 months. As a family we are very grateful for their skilled and sensitive service.

My Loving Sister:
Soon will mark 10 months since your passing. I would like to say that it gets easier day by day but it really doesnt. I struggle to not see you physically or talk to you daily as I have done so many times. I get a good cry every so often as my heart aches because I miss you dearly. I know that you are doing great work.
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH

My Dear Sweet Sister:

Its been a little over a month now that you have departed. I think of you many times throughout the day. I love you and miss you so much. I am sure that only time will heal. We spend so many opportunities together as a family to just support each other.
Your passing has truly left a void in my heart that will be hard to fill. Your passing was way to early.

The characteristics of Momi I shall always remember were the friendship she exhibited with her husband and undeviating love for her children. She blessed the lives of all those with whom she interacted. I am a better person for rubbing shoulders with Momilani Lei Heimuli. May God comfort you as He has called one His angels home sooner than we wanted.

Our wonderful sister and aunty to our keikis,
You have had and will continue to have a strong influence in our lives in so many ways. It seems like only yesterday you were cutting my hair in Aloha Center and then I turn around, and you are the Relief Society President in our ward. Whether it was cutting a poor student's hair or quietly listening to the stories of those with burdens, you have always been a Christ-like example to me and our family of aloha and how the Savior would treat others. For a time, I will miss your "cheeky" sense of humor, your laughter, and your shoyu chicken, but most of all, your gentle smile and the quiet acts of kindness that you and Martin would do for others in secret. One day, I know we will be re-united as the family of our Lord, until then, me ke aloha pume hana our dear, wonderful sister.

Martin Sr. and family,
What a shock today of learning of Momi's passing. We had no idea she was experiencing all this. I got a recipe from her for her shoyu chicken in June for the Empty Nesters. So like her not to mention her own concerns. We love you and your family. We have such happy memories of you in the ward and street and with Martin Jr's softball. They killed our boys! Praying for strength and comfort for you and your family. Elder Wayne & Sister Nita Smith, Bonaire
