Clarence Erspamer Obituary

Clarence August Erspamer
(Clary The Barber)
Our beloved Father, Grandfather, and friend passed away Monday, March 14, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 93 years old and celebrated his birthday with family eating 3 pieces of cake and 2 helpings of ice cream.
Our father was born to Italian immigrants, Ernest August Erspamer and Elvira Borzaga Erspamer, February 26, 1923 in Chisholm, Minnesota. He had 6 brothers and 2 sisters and grew up in Chisholm, moving to Bremerton, Washington to volunteer in the shipyards in WWII. He had the great opportunity of hearing President Franklin D. Roosevelt speak to him and the others in the Bremerton shipyard. Our Father moved to Los Angeles, California where he met his soul mate, Wanda Thornton. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple December 20, 1945. They lived in Los Angeles where Dad worked for UPS and attended barber school. A few years later they moved to Granger, Utah, where Dad barbered for 72 years. Dad loved his family more than life itself and would do anything for us. Dad loved his McDonald's buddies and will miss his mornings with them.
Dad is preceded in death by his darling wife, Wanda, who he missed so deeply every day; his sons Bruce John (Jane), and Paul William (Margaret); parents; all brothers and sisters. He is survived by children, Julie Anne (Garth) Samuels, Ernest Clarence (Herad Sanders), Shirley Mustard, and Karen Jolley; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren and 1 on the way. We want to thank Horizon Hospice for the loving care they gave to our Father and Grandfather.
Funeral services will be held, Saturday, March 19, 2:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, where a viewing will be held prior to services, 1:00-1:45 p.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.

Like so many, Clary cut my hair for many years when I was just a boy. His shop was across the street from where Harmon's in WVC is located now. Byron McKay was his fellow barber. ... I grew up with his son Ernie. To Ernie and all of the family - our love and best wishes! Your dad was a part of my life!

Dear Erspamer Family.

We were so sorry to learn of Clary's passing. My memories go back to so many fond thoughts, and they go back to when the barber shop was in front of the small block home on 3500 South. Clary seemed to know everyone in Granger because he cut their hair, and he had great stories about everyone.

He was a good friend, a business associate, a skiing partner and person who I enjoyed sharing stories.

We will surely miss his quick wit and charming personality. We have fond memories and Clary and Wanda and their kids.

Clary was the best of men, he gave his all to the ones he loved. He and Wanda will live together in our hearts forever. I wish I could be with my family to help celebrate his life and talk about things he loved, like his boxing and the peddle bike ride he did to Windover with his 2 sons, his hole in one and his bowling ally Breakfast that we all looked forward too. Know my heart is with you all, I love you!

I will always remember Clary with a twinkle in his eye, and the love he showed to his family. Every child, grandchild, great-grandchild, and great-great grandchild was special in his sight and heart. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a quick wit. He was a role model for his extended family and was always ready to help in times of trouble. He loved his wife Wanda dearly, and they were role models for a strong marriage to all.
He loved to play golf, ride bikes, and ski with his son Ernie and did so into his eighties. Such a special man, husband, and father.
Thanks Clary, for all you gave us.

Thank you father for all of the memories and all of the good that you instilled in me. You were the positive male role model In my life and I was and am lucky to have had you. You made everyone including myself laugh and smile whenever you were around and I do my best to do the same. I hope very much that in some way you have been reunited with our dear grandmother Wanda as I hope one day to be reunited with you both. I hope I made you proud. I love you, father.Your grandson,Eric

Clary will be missed by all. Some of my best memories are going to the barber shop with my dad and just being a kid. He always greeted me with kindness and had a smile on his face. I'm sure he is sitting in heaven with my dad and all his friends having the best time, with Wanda by his side. My prayers and thoughts are with his family at this sad time. God bless.
