TIPS
Mr. Will Chambers Tips

Mr. Will Chambers Tips, born October 7, 1920 in San Antonio, Texas to Frederick Julius Tips and Margaret Chambers Tips, died on March 14, 2012 at the age of 91. A lifelong resident of San Antonio, Will attended San Antonio Academy, Texas Military Institute, and the University of Texas, Austin, where he met and married Frances May Beam, his beloved wife of 62 years. He served his country honorably during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps. With his younger brother, Frederick Julius Tips, Jr., Will took over the family business upon the death of their grandfather Will Harry Chambers, the founder of Mission Burial Park. They transformed the business from a single simple cemetery to a full-service, multi-branch enterprise that integrated complete funerary and burial services. Will was a founding member of the Town Club and an active member of the San Antonio Country Club, the Argyle, the Order of the Alamo and a 50-year member of the Texas Cavaliers. He was a man of strong character and generosity who took great pleasure in his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances in 2003, and by his brother Fred in 2011. Survivors include his youngest brother, Craig Adams Tips and wife Ruth Ann Tips; daughters: Jane Tips Rowe, Joan Tips Thaggard and husband Dr. Alvin Thaggard; grandchildren: Jane Elizabeth Beckmann, Taylor David (Ty) Thaggard and wife Holly Emery Thaggard; Martin Will Thaggard and wife Jennifer Perry Thaggard; great-grandchildren: Emery Lauren Thaggard, Stephen Will Thaggard and Oliver Riley Thaggard; nieces and nephews: Margaret Tips Houston, Ann Tips Thompson, Robert Dixon Tips and wife Kristin Deyon Tips, and Frederick Julius Tips, III and wife Lori Bennet Tips. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 PM on Monday, March 19 at Will's home. His life will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, March 20 at First Presbyterian Church, 404 N. Alamo St., with a reception to follow at the San Antonio Country Club. Private entombment will be held in the Tips Family Mausoleum located at Mission Memorial Park - Dominion North. The family wishes to express special thanks to Henrietta and Hope Martinez for their extraordinary dedication and kindness in his care over the years; to the staff of the San Antonio Country Club, who delighted him with their attentions at his 'special table'; and to the staff of the Vitas Hospice, for their gentle help in his final days. In lieu of usual remembrances, Memorial Contributions may be made in his honor to Texas Biomedical Research, c/o 7620 NW Loop 410, San Antonio, Texas 78227 or to a charity of choice. A Precious One From You Has Gone,
A Voice You Loved Is Stilled.
A Place Is Vacant In Your Home
(but not in your heart),
Which Never Will Be Filled.

My deepest condolences at the loss of Mr. Will.
Whenever you are feeling a little down and missing him, go outside and let the sun light warm your face and take that warmeth as his love shining down on you.

It was my pleasure and honor to have taken care of Mr. Will on Fri-Sat 3/9-10 when he first started with VITAS Continuous Care and to have met your Joan. You all are in my prayers during this difficult time.

Cecilia G. (CECI) Flores, L.V.N.--VITAS Hospice
