Hilda Pierre Obituary

Hilda Pearl Pierson Pierre passed away on September 22, 2008 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born to Horace and Pearl Pierson on June 16, 1920, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was the oldest of five children and the only girl. In her young adulthood, she attended beauty school and became a cosmetologist. She was great at her craft of making herself and other women look beautiful. At the age of 22, she married Lloyd Hermit Pierre. Subsequently, they had three children, two sons and one girl. She was a wonderful devoted mother to her children. They were the joy of her life. In 1967, Hilda moved to California for a better life and education for her children. She worked for the University of California as a Laboratory Technician while raising the two younger children. While working for the University, she spent countless hours befriending and helping elderly people in any way she could. In 1985, she retired from the University but continued her service to the elderly. In 2000, Hilda moved to San Antonio, Texas, to be closer to her son and his family. In time, just as before, she befriended many more people who loved and adored her. Hilda's lifelong and favorite hobby was reading. She enjoyed quiet time to read and contemplate God. She also enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles, spending time with family, and sewing. Her love and compassion for people led her to support many charities throughout her life. For this reason, the family has requested that donations be made in her name to the following organizations: Feed the Children, Disabled Veterans of America, Lupus Foundation, and the American Heart Association. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Hermit Pierre; brothers, Joseph, Horace, Raymond, and Walter; and her son, Lloyd Merlin Pierre. Her life and love endures through those she leaves behind: her son, K. W. Pierre of San Antonio, Texas, and daughter, Rev. Marquita Pierre of Anchorage, Alaska; daughters-in-law, Sharon and Zenata Pierre; six grandchildren, Tania Mitchell, Breana and Adrianna Pierre, Matthew and Mark Alexander, and Kaleel Nuriddin. She also left behind many who loved her as Mama Hilda or Mom Pierre Ð Stephen Lynch, Mike Woodward and many more friends. A private family service was held Monday, September 29, 2008, in San Antonio, Texas. You are invited to sign the Guestbook at www.porterloring.com Arrangements with Porter Loring Mortuary North.

Blest Be The Tie That Binds Our Hearts in Christian Love!

To: Kermit and Rev. Marquita and Families:

Sending you my sincerest condolences and love. It has been many, many years since I last saw or spoke with your Mom. But as a young girl, I often visited her on Caffin Avenue. She was such a beautiful and fashionable lady. She would always be dressed from head to toe and would have that beautiful shade of red lipstickon her lips. Well, that's been decades ago. Lil Lloyd (as we called him were best of cousins growing up). We were Sunday-school budies. I remember you Kermit in your short pants with suspenders. Pearl you were a very delicate little girl (you were much like the gem - Pearl). I remember you attending McDonogh 19 school - you would rather skip than walk.

Your mom is one of those moms that shall never die - -for she will live in you and your children. My mom and her sister transitioned to Glory last December, 2007, seven days apart.

You may not remember me. I am Rhea Joseph Dokes (a cousin, on your Dad's side) I belong to Branch Bell Baptist Church. I am the musician. Whenever you are in New Orleans, or the vicinity, please call me. 504.949.0899 (h)

From me and my family with all our love.
