Norma and Daniel - My sincere thoughts and prayers go out to you and yours. My own memories of your father and mother and their wonderful attitude will always be a part of my Girl Scouting times. They were both so special and loving in the many ways they helped with our troop functions. Your loss is a loss for those who knew them.

I grew up around Mr. and Mrs. Jaime thanks to my grandparents, the Mettkes. The last time I saw him was at my wedding, he offered me a big hug, and words of encouragement for our future. He was always so outgoing and kind. Our prayers are with your family.

Mr. Jaime was my home room advisor for three years from 1966 through 1969 at Poe Jr. High School. My family members, their friends and I who learned woodshop technicques as well as life lessons, have always wondered about him. Over the years we each have shared our personal stories about our encounters with Mr. Jaime. To us, it was like having our own "old school" Dad in a classroom setting!
We want to express our heart felt sympathy to you. We loved him, and are grateful that we met him.

I was never a student of Mr. Jaime's but I was a student at Poe from '75-'78. My mother worked with him as well at Poe from 1974 until her retirement in 1990. He was a great teacher, one who still taught for the love of teaching. I remember his taking old palm branches and making paddles for the coaches from them, he was recycling before recylcing became popular. My mother got one of those paddles from him, apparently they didn't have much wind resistance. She still has it, I do believe. Rest assured that Mr. Jaime, touched many, many lives, and helped mold many young people so that a part of him lives on forever. This is often the greatest gift we can give in our lives. My prayers are with you, I know what you're going through. He was so kind to my family when we lost my father 22 years ago and my mother broke her ankle a few months later at school. God bless, and "lean unto him who surpasses all understanding", he will give you peace and comfort.

Our sympathy to the Jaime family. He came to our Resendez reunion July 7, 2007 in Seguin, TX and took the official photographs. We also met one of his daughters and grandsons. We are related through my Grandmother Eusebia Jaime Resendez. He took the time to write the Jaime family history and I am truly grateful for that. Rest in Peace. My deepest condolences go out to the Jaime family. I had Mr. Jamie for shop class at E. A. Poe Middle School ('77-'79). He once said to my that his job as a teacher was that of a master wood worker. "To take a piece of wood with the ruff bark and work with it til its a beautiful piece that everyone admires". I've always remember that. He was truely a great man.

So sad to hear of Mr. Jaime's passing. My deepest condolences to Mr. Jaime's family. I experienced his genius in the wood shop department at EA Poe Middle school long years ago. I truly admired his skill, and his ability to translate a difficult subject, at the time, for a girl, into an exhilarating class. I loved the many projects we created, especially the race car. I treasured my race car for years. Mr. Jaime thank you for touching my life in such an unforgettable way. I too am a teacher now, and I know how important we are in the lives of our children. I hope that I will be as loved by my stu dents as you are. We were just talking about you on the Edgar Allen Poe 1974-1978 Facebook Group. We will miss you.
May you rest in peace.
