Joe Pyle Obituary

PYLE
Joe Neil Pyle, P.E. of San Antonio was born in Oklahoma City, OK on June 22, 1930, and was called to the Lord on May 12, 2011, at the age of 80. Joe graduated from Jefferson High School in 1948 and graduated from Texas A&M University, with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1952. Joe was a proud member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band and served in the Army as an engineering officer in France from June 1952-May 1954. He fell in love with and married Gilda Borges in 1957. Joe was a founding member on Seligmann & Pyle Engineering and later partnered with Rudolph Klein IV to form Pyle & Klein Consulting Engineering, Inc. Joe was a life member of the National Society of Professional Engineering, a member of the San Antonio Manufacturing Association and was appointed to the Texas Board of Health in 1979 by Governor Bill Clements. Joe was an Eagle Scout and had served as a Scout Master. Joe was a Life Board Member and Deacon of Central Christian Church, his beloved church since he was six years old. Joe loved life and lived it to the fullest. His greatest loves were God, family, country, his church family and his beloved Texas Aggies. Joe was especially proud of his grandson, Erich, who was an Eagle Scout and planning to become a third generation Aggie. His grandchildren were the joy of Joe's life and they affectionately called him "Deda". Joe loved gardening, fishing and reading the Bible daily. The spirit of Aggieland is playing in Heaven. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Gilda; daughter, Erin Johnson and husband, David and their children, Erich and Kiri; son, Bryan Pyle and wife, Cynthia and her children, Julianna and Michael. Extended family includes brother, Jerry Pyle and wife, Geraldine; brother-in-law, Leo Borges, David and Kate Pyle, Caroline, Keith, Cathleen and Madeline Lochte and Stephen and Christine Pyle. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on May 16, 2011 at Central Christian Church, 720 N. Main, 78205. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Central Christian Church or the Texas Aggie Band Association. We are saddened by your loss and will keep all the Pyle family in our prayers. I always think about Joe when I drive by his old office off Naco Perrin and smile. He had such a wonderful smile, it was infectious. Joe, put in a good word for the rest of us. God bless you Jill and all your family. Love and prayers, Louise and Harry Lund
