Louis Guido Obituary

GUIDO
Louis Lorelli Guido Jr. passed away peacefully on February 4, 2011 at the age of 78. He was one of four children born to Louis and Florence Guido in San Antonio. As a young boy, he grew up in a growing Italian community learning his trade in the family construction business. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1954 and was a true Aggie in every sense of the word. After graduating from A&M, he served in the military for two years and then returned to San Antonio to enter the family business Guido Brothers Lumber & Construction Company. He was lovingly known as "Jr" and never met a stranger. After retiring from the construction company, he and his wife retired to Rockport, Texas where they became an integral part of the community and church. He loved fishing, creating stain glass windows and became a Master Gardener. Jr's love of his life was his wife of 58 years Agnes "Tootsie" Adamo Guido. They shared a long and loving life and never left each other's side. The last years he was best known for his latest passion - cooking, including everything from spaghetti sauce to meatballs, cakes, brownies and pies.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes Guido, his four children, Jennifer Guido, Nancy Neugebauer, Louis Guido III, Paul Guido and his wife Susie. His grandchildren include John Sawyer, Julie LaFosse and her husband David, Elise Tate and her husband Jonathan, Amanda Neugebauer and Louis Guido IV. The light of his life for the last year and a half are his two great grandsons Clifford LaFosse and Mason Tate. Additional survivors include his brother Cosmo Guido, his aunt Theresa Catalani, cousin Frances Ponzio, his sisters in law Toni Guido, Felecia Tocci and Mary Lou Bullard. He was preceded in death by his sisters Dora Pisano and Virginia McDaniel. Pallbearers include Paul Guido, Frank Guido, Louis Sirianni, Victor Pisano, Stanley Pisano, and Tom Guido. Honorary Pallbearers include Reggie Brooks, Nic Catalani, Brazos Guido, Cosmo Guido, Gino Guido, Malcolm McDaniel, Blasé Pantuso, and Pie Pisano. The family wants to especially thank the warm and kind staff, nurses and doctors who cared for him and kept him comfortable at North East Baptist Hospital. While he will be sorely missed, the memories will always make us smile and remind us to celebrate each day of our lives. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, February 7 at 7:00pm at San Francesco di Paola Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 8 at 10:00am at San Francesco di Paola Catholic Church. Interment will follow the Funeral Mass at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. If desired, memorable contributions may be made to San Francesco di Paola Catholic Church. Condolences may be sent to the Guido family at www.theangelusfuneralhome.com. Arrangements by:

Dear Tootsie,
We are very saddened by the sudden departure of your loving husband. Thinking of you reminds me of the Saturday mornings I spent with grandmother having just moved to Texas and got to know you both as well. It made me feel being part of a loving family.
