Santiago Aguilar Obituary

October 10, 1948 - July 15, 2015
The world has suffered a tremendous loss. Santiago G. Aguilar passed away on July 15, 2015. He was born October 10, 1948 to Virginia and Valentin Aguilar in San Antonio, Texas. Jim, as his friends called him, is preceded in death his wife of 38 years Grace Moore Aguilar, his parents, and his beloved brother in law, Jimmy Rodriguez. He was a proud graduate of Holy Cross High School, Class of '67, where he remained very active. He was the first in his family to graduate from college earning a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts from Our Lady of the Lake University. Jimmie had a long career with the Texas Workforce Commission where he retired after many years of service and returned to finish his tenure as a Tax Auditor 2010. During his career he also served on and was president of many boards and was active in his community. Jimmie had a thirst for life that could not be quenched. In his retirement he enjoyed traveling to Europe, Spain, Brazil, and Mexico with his close companion, Irene L. Chavez, and other state side trips with friends. Jimmie was a devoted Father who had a beautiful relationship with his only daughter, who he also called his "Favorite", Maricela. They would spend time talking about everything under the sun, and would leave no subject unturned. The adoration and love between the two of them was undeniable. Jimmie never met a stranger and was a true friend to all who knew him. He was generous, kind, loyal and always willing to help, love and support all of his friends and family. You never saw Jimmie without a smile and warmth that radiated. He left a lasting impression and legacy of love on all that crossed his path. In his last years Jim was blessed to spend time with his son in law, Matt and granddaughter Maya Grace who he loved more than life. Jim is survived by his daughter Maricela Moore Aguilar, Granddaughter Maya Grace Aguilar Aguirre, Son in law Matt Aguirre, his eldest sister Carlota Rodriguez, his brother Valentin G. Aguilar Jr, Olga Aguilar (sister in law), Sister, Virginia Zepeda & Arthur Zepeda (brother in law), many nieces, nephews and cousins, His Holy Cross band of brothers and legions of close friends. Jimmie touched all who knew him. The light he brought to the world will never go out and will continue to burn brightly in all who knew him.

Condolence: Condolences to the family, Psalm 23 likens our Grand Creator to a shepherd. How fitting that is when we think of the loving care a good shepherd provides for the sheep he loves. Verse 4 reminds us that we sometimes walk in the valley of deep shadow then reassures us that he still is with us. May the Great Shepherd prove to be with you, Jennings family, granting you the measure of comfort, faith and strength that you require to endure this moment of darkness. Wishing you the peace of God

Maricela, I am so sorry I wasn't here for your fathers services. It was such a surprise to see the words that your father had passed. He was such a kind and sweet man. Even though I hasn't seen him in a while I always thought of him and wondered how he was doing. Please if you ever need to talk call me. (210) 317-2111.
