Samuel Campobello Obituary

Samuel Campobello, 80, a most Godly man, fought the good fight until October 10, 2001 losing a courageous battle with cancer. Sam leaves behind a legacy of Love and Commitment to his Lord and Savior and will be remembered for his unwavering Love for his children, friends and extended family. Born February 13, 1921 in Rockford, IL, he served in the infantry in WWII and was wounded on Christmas Eve in the Battle of the Bulge. He spent nine months in military hospitals and was awarded a Purple Heart. He graduated with highest honors from the University of Illinois and later received his CPA designation. He retired from Friedrich Air Conditioning Company as the Controller in 1982 after 31 years of service. Preceded in death by wife, Nita of 35 years. Survived by June Campobello, wife of 19 years; brothers, Richard and Jim; sisters, Josephine, Geraldine, Virginia, Francis and Marian; son, James Samuel Campobello; daughters, Carol Scroggins and Mary Campobello; one grandson, Darren Wade Scroggins. A Celebration of Sams life will be held at Cross Lutheran Church, 169 South Hickory Avenue, New Braunfels TX at 2:00 PM followed by Private Interment for family only.
