Lt. Col. Robert Andrew Kaiser, Retired U. S. Air Force, age 77, of San Antonio, Texas passed away Friday, May 28, 2010 at his residence. He was born Sep 16, 1932, in Irons Michigan, to Carrie and Carl Kaiser. He married Jane Gilley Kaiser on Dec 28, 1957. He graduated from The United States Military Academy "West Point" Class of 1954. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the US Air Force. He was one of few officers to be assigned to units that flew bombers, transports, and fighters. His greatest thrill was flying the F-100 which was one of the "hottest" aircraft in the air at the time. He was a Vietnam Veteran decorated with a Meritorious Service Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters and Air Medal with 8 Oak Leaf Clusters. He continued his career as a pilot until his retirement as a Lt. Col. In 1982. He then went on to teach middle school math in the San Antonio school system until 1995. His career objectives were to fly fighters and to take his family on a long tour to Europe. He succeeded. He was preceded in death by his son Robert Andrew Kaiser, Jr. in 1978. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jane Kaiser, Two children, Tracy Kaiser Moreland and husband Michael Moreland of Northfield, MN and Gregory A. Kaiser and wife Tracy Felton Kaiser of Boerne, TX. He was blessed to have three grandchildren, Andrew and Matthew Kaiser of Boerne, TX and Samuel Moreland of Northfield, MN, sister, Jeane Rockwell of Lowell, MI.; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on Thursday, June 3 at 1:30 p.m.
