WOODS
Jennifer Lynn Woods, mother, sister and friend to many, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 in her home in Alamo Heights, San Antonio TX. Jennifer was 53 years old, having been born in Baytown, TX to Glen and Joyce Woods. Jennifer was passionate about music and gourmet cuisine, frequently taking her daughter Madison to the symphony and cooking delectable meals for her family and friends. Jennifer's sisters Holly Woods of Edwards CO and Vicky Woods-Hinkle of Baytown TX remember Jennifer's love for entertaining and travel. Jennifer began traveling globally when a teen and frequently went to exotic locales. One of her favorite spots was Estes Park CO, at the foot of Rocky Mountain National Park, which she frequented for many years. She enjoyed fly-fishing in the Big Thompson and serving up epicurean trout for her family and daughter Madison. Jennifer was an avid outdoorswoman, frequently bow-hunting and having earned a fly fishing certification. Jennifer was a fervent alumnus of the University of Texas, having earned a Bachelor of Science in Interior Architecture from UT Austin 1982, and a MBA from UT San Antonio. Jennifer also earned a certificate of Historical Preservation and the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) distinction in 2000. Jennifer was most recently self-employed, having started the The Woods Group, LLC, specializing in commercial real estate investment and feasibility analysis. Jennifer's father Glen Woods, currently of La Grange, was proud of her determination and work ethic. Jennifer provided vast support to her daughter Madison's Girl Scout troop, having been a Troop Leader and Cookie Mom. She and Madison also traveled across Texas during the summer 2011 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Girl Scouts, visiting many historical designations along the Great Trail of Texas. Jennifer was a tireless volunteer and advocate of Alamo Heights Middle School, where Madison is a 7th grade honors student and plays cello in the orchestra. She was also an active member of Alamo Heights United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and led other volunteer events. Jennifer was a huge Tony Bennett fan, having attended one of his live performances. She also relished classical and other 50's swing music. She was a proud fifth generation Texan and had pursued membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas with her sister Vicky. Jennifer's attention to propriety and etiquette never ceased to amaze her family, who often received thank you notes before they returned from their visit with her. Jennifer's nieces and nephews, Rachel Shaver of Boston MA, Austin Shaver of Austin, TX, and Lindsey and Laurel Halvorson of Edwards CO remember their aunt most for her gracious way of serving others and the enormity of her love for them. She insisted on being a part of her nieces and nephew's lives, attending their events, graduations, and keeping up with their passions. Jennifer was a consummate parent, sparing no time or energy for her daughter. She will be greatly missed by many friends and family.

I am so sorry to hear about Jennifer. Her daughter, Madison, and my younger daughter are the same age, and we taught their Sunday school class together when they were 3 and 4 years old. I just found out when looking for her on Facebook. Rest in peace, Jennifer. You're with the Lord now.

We all miss Jennifer. My mother was one of Jennifer's good friends. Jennifer was a kind, loving woman. I will keep Jennifer and her daughter Madison in my prayers.

Jennifer Woods will be deeply missed by all of us in the Masterson family. Jennifer Woods was full of integrity and love of her community. She was completely devoted to her daughter Madison. She loved her daughter with every ounce of her being and soul. Over the years our girls have played together, studied piano together, swam together, worked out at the Concord together, girl scouted together, had dinners together, shared hurdles of single parenting and shared a very dear mutal friend, Marjorie Hoover. I know that Marjorie and Jennifer are reunited again. All our love to Jennifer, Madison and family. You will be missed and never forgotten.

Jennifer, or "Coach Woods" as she was called in our world, quickly became one of our most favorite substitutes in the Cambridge gym. She was always one step ahead of us in knowing our needs for equipment and was so good working with students. She even worked a field day knowing in advance that it would be a long, hot, and arduous day. She thrived on hard work and was steadfast at finding ways to help everyone. Her spirit was uplifting and her smile contagious. The students and Coaches at Cambridge are appreciative of her dedication and want her family to know that "Coach Woods" was such a positive influence in all of our lives.

I had the pleasure of meeting and teaming with Jennifer last year, on a project we were pursuing together. Although our contact was brief, I admired her knowledge, professionalism and dedication, and I looked forward to knowing her better. We discovered that our kids attended AHJS together, and I could clearly see how proud she was of her daughter and certainly how she adored her! Her eyes sparkled when she talked about Madison!
Having recently lost my own precious mother, my heart aches for Madison and her family, and I will keep them all in my prayers. Knowing your mother is with Jesus, and that through Him we will be forever reunited in Heaven has helped me get through the tough days. I pray God will surround you all with His abiding presence and love during this difficult time and beyond.

My Sincerest Condolences,

Demar Gunter

I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Woods' passing. I have several classes with Madison, and had the pleasure of seeing and talking to Madison around school and in class. Mrs. Woods was so involved at the school, where she sometimes was a substitute teacher for some of the classes I had with her. She knew every student by name, and always made a point to say hi to me and other students. My deepest condolences Madison, she will be missed at AHJS.

Dear Madison, Glen, Vicky, Holly, Karen, and the rest of your dear family,

I only met dear Jennifer at Glen's and Karen's wedding this past week-end, but I could feel the deepness of her soul and the love she had for her daughter and her family.

Please know that I hold all of you closely in my prayers and in my thoughts. I am so very sorry for your loss.

Love,

DeLynn (Karen's best friend of many years)

Madison and Jennifer's dear Family -
When I moved back to my home town of San Antonio in 1994, Jennifer was one of the first people I met. We quickly became friends. I remember her coming to me to ask for tutoring to get her through her CCIM exam. What a gifted and talented woman Jennifer was. I am deeply saddened that she left us so soon. She will be missed. I will always remember that bubbly personality and wonderful laugh.

I never knew Jennifer but saw her frequently at the Concord/Spectrum. I could tell she was a very loving mother and actively engaged in her daughter's life. I know she will be missed.

This world will never ever be the same without Jennifer in it. I had the pleasure of knowing her through both AHUMC and the commercial real estate industry. I found her to be smart (brilliant really), engaging, kind, giving, and humble. Her analysis, insight, and advice were always right on and her laugh was contagious. I will miss seeing her and Madison sitting, snuggled up together, in church. She was always so very proud of Madison and anyone could tell Madison was the center of her universe. I will miss her and the light of the world has diminished for her passing.

Jennifer will be greatly missed by her many friends at the Concord-Spectrum Club. I talked to her just last week and have known her nearly 20 years, took fitness classes with her, had innumerable conversations with her about life, kids, music, everything. She definitely had her strong opinions but that's because she was a strong person whom I will always remember with great fondness.
