Joe Solano Obituary

SOLANO
Joe E. Solano, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great, great grandfather, was called home by the Lord on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, in San Antonio, at the age of 90. He was born December 2, 1922, in Del Agua, Colorado to Jose and Josephine (West) Solano. He proudly served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II, and was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star Medal. Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting, making jewelry, and was a life member of the El Paso Elks Lodge #187 and VFW Post 2451, of El Paso. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Porfirio Lucero; sons, Frankie Solano and Robert Lucero; great grandson, Jaxon Almond; 2 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Tillie (Williams) Solano; daughters, Josie Vigil (Edward), Rose Solano and Theresa Molina (David); grandchildren, Randy, Audrey, Robert Joe, Tara, Catrina, Anita, Andrew and Matthew; 10 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2013 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a rosary at 7:00pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 25, 2013 at 1:00pm at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 4535 Lord Road, San Antonio, TX 78220. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at www.sunsetfuneralhomesa.com
