Patsy Yantis Obituary

November 11, 1931 - June 6, 2017
Patsy Ruth Cotton Yantis went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at the age of 85.
Patsy was born in San Antonio on November 11, 1931 to Raymond Lindsay Cotton and Ruth Elizabeth Hibbs Cotton.
A life-long San Antonian, she attended Agnes Cotton Elementary and Mark Twain Junior high school where she met John, her future husband!
She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1949 and went on to work at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.
Patsy married the love of her life, John Yantis, on August 23, 1952.
As newlyweds in College Station, Patsy worked while John finished his degree.
They then lived in Fort Sill, Oklahoma for a short time before moving back to San Antonio.
Together they had four children: Mike, Tom (Tommy), Nancy, and Susan.
Patsy volunteered as a Bluebird at Methodist hospital and was a member of various social clubs. She loved Monday's spent at El Jarro with four generations of her family and their best friends they've had since middle school. Patsy never lost her sense of humor and her quick wit! As a sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Patsy was so loved by all and will be very missed.
Patsy is survived by her husband of almost 65 years, John Yantis, who always says "she was the love of my life!" Her children Mike Yantis and wife Patty, Tom Yantis and wife Susan, Nancy Yantis Austin and husband Hank, Susan L. Yantis, sister Elouise Cotton Cooley, Sister-in law-Becky Yantis, and three nephews.
Her grandchildren Mike Yantis Jr., Blake Yantis and wife Jen, Matt Yantis and wife Jennifer, Whitney Yantis Boyd and husband Geoff, Lindsey Yantis Friesen and husband John, Taylor Austin and his wife Laura, and Hailey Austin, as well as ten great-grandchildren.
There will be a visitation on Tuesday, June 13, 4:00-6:00pm at Porter Loring on McCullough. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, June 14, at 2:00pm at University United Methodist Church on DeZavala road with a reception following at Oaks Hills Country Club.
Many thanks to Angelita De la Cerda for her care, much love and appreciation to Bertha Zapata for over 50 years of devoted care and companionship, and lots of love and gratitude to Becky Villela for her love, care, and lots of laughs!

Johnny, My heart aches for you and your family. I experienced this with the loss of Joe. You and I have been blessed to have spent the better part of our lives with a life pardner that we met and loved very early in our lives. Patsy was a dear, wonderful girl and woman. May God's comfort, strength, and guidance be with you. Connie Wallace, Jeff '49

Thinking of all of you and keeping you in my prayers as you move through this difficult time. My memories of time spent with Patsy (and Johnny) are some of my most favorite. She was like a second mother to me, especially while I lived far from home, in Texas. That quick wit was never lacking and her grace and hospitality were always on point. What a lovely lovely woman, who I know, will be greatly missed. Grateful she knew her Savior and that you can all take comfort in that. Love to you all. Meredith
