Ellen Doyal Obituary
Ellen Nora Thompson Doyal of San Antonio, Texas was born December 19, 1943 in Brady, Texas and died in San Antonio, Texas January 1, 2018. Ellen was a fifth generation Texan, the daughter of Ben Claud and DeLila Mary Blauvelt Thompson.
Ellen is survived by her husband of 51 years, Sidney Ray Doyal. Ellen's greatest pride was her children and their families. Her children are Laurie Doyal-Lampman and husband Rusty of Marion, Texas; Julie Anne Umscheid and husband Greg of Portland, Oregon; and Philip Doyal and wife Christina Doyal of Frisco, Texas.
Ellen was a dedicated grandmother to Sydney Smejkal, Jacob Lampman, Rutger Umscheid, Aaron Lampman, Chloe Doyal, Keagan Doyal and Peyton Doyal.
Ellen is a graduate of Rochelle High School and the University of Dallas. She was a full time mother and an adult education English as a second language instructor. For Ellen, being able to interact with students from different countries, cultures and ethnicities was the ideal job. She welcomed any opportunity to travel and meet new people.
To celebrate fifty years of marriage, Ray and Ellen spent three weeks in Ireland and visited the Campbell homesite in Donegal that her family left in 1848 to come to Texas.
A visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 pm Friday, January 5 at Heritage Funeral Home in Brady, Texas and a service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, January 6 at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Brady, Texas.
Donations can be made to Catholic Relief Services, Richards Memorial Library in Brady, Texas or any charity of your choice.

Ellen and I met at the University of Dallas and remained friends for 50+ years. I was her maid of honor when she and Ray married. We kept in touch over the years and visited each other at our ranch in Ballinger and at her camphouse. She and I would meet for lunch and shopping somewhere along I35 between Austin and San Antonio. She and Ray would meet me and my husband John for lunch on weekends.
She didn't want me to visit her this year but we talked by phone often. I will dearly miss her and very much treasure the years we had together.
