Hey Miss Emma,
Just wanted to say hi, another year has passed, I can't believe how the time is passing. We are in an election year, and it is a wild one. fuel is down, dancing around the $4.00 mark. The weather has been crazy, very hot through out the country, and all of a sudden it got cold. The Padres got to the play off's with the Dodgers, won a couple games, but lost to the Dodgers.
We miss you very deeply Miss Emma, take care, talk with you another time.

Remember when we walked inside and up to the top of Diamond Head to look out point,, in O'ahu Hawaii,, it was a long walk, a lot of stairs, but we had a lot of fun doing it, and we made it.

I'm so glad to see all the responses from the people who's lives my grandmother touched. I miss her every day. Thank you so much for remembering her. She always went out of her way to help anyone and everyone. She even told me a story about making a phone call long distance to a student who had left school too early. She got in trouble with the principal but she didn't care; her goal was to make sure everyone succeeded. She did convince the girl to return to school and she graduated. I love you grandma and always will.

May 2018. I am just learning of Emma's passing and feeling a great sense of loss. I met Emma many years ago when I fell in love with her son, Dennis. We were engaged to marry but I was too young to follow through. Later, when Dennis died unexpectedly, I was beyond devastated. Emma, of all people, held my hand literally and figuratively for years and years and helped me manage my pain. She was gentle, kind, caring and compassionate when I visited her, during many long telephone calls and through our letters and cards. I will always remember and I will miss this special woman and her extraordinary kindness.

Mrs.Leisure was a favorite teacher of mine at Crawford. Her business classes prepared me to enter the business world and be successful. She was always so pleasant and made time for her students.

Emma was a special person. As a youngster I can remember spending nights at your home. Dennis was one of my best friends during elementary school. My mother, Barbara Dawson, was also a friend and professional colleague of Emma's. They both worked for the SDUSD in different capacities. I later attended Horace Mann Junior High School and Crawford High School and guess who was my counselor! I consider it my good fortune that I knew your mom. She made a difference in the lives of many, many young when they needed it the most. Thank you for sharing her with us. Doug Dawson

Mrs. Leisure was the best!!! she was my high school counselor at Crawford in the very early 60's. It really boosted my confidence when, after my senior year, she asked me to stay at her house during the summer days to clean house and watch her son. I felt very honored! She was a very special woman with a great heart and a lot of love for her charges!

I remember Mrs. Leisure so well. I enjoyed being in her class of Business English at Crawford. She was such a gentle person. I am just now putting together how life goes around. My mother attended FHP church for many years and they were friends. One Sunday when I was visiting mom introduced us. I had no idea that she was the same person. David was mentioned in our conversation (he was the fast talking ad person for ISUZU). I recently was thinking of my high school days and she was one of those teachers that came to mind. Rest in Peace and God bless her family.

I remember Mrs Leisure as one of my favorite people at Crawford....May she Rest In Peace! My thoughts and prayers go to her family. Coincidentally my dad was also 96 when he passed in 2010. I hope she lived a quality life and was alert to the very end like he was. I hope she did not suffer. Bernadine Berlin Temple class of 1962

One of my favorite teachers. She was my counselor and carefully guided me toward SDSU...we reconnected there when she was working on her master's degree and I did some work for her. I have such fond memories of her. RIP dear vriend.

Mrs. Leisure was one of my absolute favorite members of staff and faculty at Crawford. The skills she taught me were invaluable. I notice she was a "Rosie the Riveter" at one time, and that made me wonder if my Dad, a supervisor of Rosies, had known her.

Mrs. Leisure was an outstanding shorthand teacher and I enjoyed her class. I belonged to the Secretaries Club and Mrs. Leisure was our Advisor, letting us have our meetings in her home. She was also a Counselor at Crawford High School. While working part-time at a local dept. store, while attending SDSU, Mrs. Leisure would stop by my counter to ask how I was enjoying my classes. I was able to reconnect with her at a few of my class reunions. My sincere condolences to David and family on the passing of Mrs. Leisure. Judy MacInnes, Class of 1962, Crawford High School.
