Published by San Diego Union-Tribune on Aug. 14, 2014.
Steed, Dr. Paul M. SAN DIEGO -- Dr. Paul M. Steed died August 11, 2014 at the age of 50. He was born on Staten Island, New York. At the age of 14, he moved to Colts Neck, NJ. He attended Christian Brothers Academy, and graduated from Lafayette College. He earned a PhD in Molecular Biology from Purdue University. His lifetime goal was to help find a cure for cancer. He worked at several pharmaceutical firms in the field of cancer research. Paul could accomplish anything he put his mind to. He bought and restored two old houses, learning everything he needed to return them to their original grandeur. Paul was a true athlete. His loves were track and field, baseball, biking and skiing. Paul's greatest achievement was his children: Dylan, and Shannon. He is also survived by his parents, Patricia and John Steed; his brother, Michael; and sister, Deirdre; and aunts, uncles, cousins, and several adoring nieces and nephews. He spent 19 years in a loving marriage with Jill McGrady-Steed. Services are listed on elcaminomemorial.com

Paul was a warm, fun, talented friend, whom I met in college. He always had a larger than life presence and a heart to match. I will remember him with a smile always, and I will also remember his great love for his family-Jill, Dylan and Shannon. You are all in my thoughts and heart. Much love to you all.
