Gloria Walton
November 21, 2014
My name is Gloria Hickey Walton and I worked at the old Main Carnegie Library on E St. in downtown San Diego during WWII when Audrey also worked there. She had come to SD because her husband, Kelvin, was in the military service. I was a high school teenager and Audrey was a beautiful and glamorous young woman. My mother, Emilie Hickey, also worked at the Main Library and she and Audrey were very good friends, often sharing a good laugh over the day's events or some secret joke. After the war she was at NTC Library and we contacted one another occasionally. One mutual friend was another librarian, Barbara Tuthill, who now lives in New England. Audrey always wore lovely clothes and exuded charm and sophistication. I'm glad she had such a long active life.
