Barbara Faucher Obituary

Barbara Faucher January 9, 1932 - December 20, 2015 SAN DIEGO Barbara was born in Santa Ana, CA., the only child of Peter and Marion Apratto. She attended San Diego High (1949) and San Diego State College.Barbara married Harold Faucher in 1950 and started their family, where they made Allied Gardens their home for 57 years. Barbara enjoyed her 11 years working at Marvin Elementary, but found her greatest satisfaction in serving the Lord throughout her life in ministries at her St. Therese Parish. Her most recent work was as past President for San Diego Chapter Magnificat, a ministry to Catholic Women, from 1997 -2011. Some of her greatest pleasures were times spent on family outings and vacations, and spending time catching up with friends and sharing in spiritual discussion. She will be most remembered for her strong faith, prayer and counsel; her love, generosity and devotion to her family; her sense of humor, especially in difficult times; and the fostering and nurturing of life long friendships. She placed great importance on staying connected, and celebrating the important events of life.Barbara spent her last days with her family at her bedside and died peacefully in her home after a two year battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Barbara was preceded in death by her son, Bill in 1969. She is survived by her husband, Harry of 65 years; son, Stephen (Carlene); daughters, Valerie Colucci (Bill), and Diane Priest (Mike); six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.The Faucher Family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the friends, family and caregivers that made it possible for Barbara to have her desire and remain in her home to the very end.Rosary and funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Therese Catholic Church, 6016 Camino Rico, San Diego, CA. 92120 at 10:30am on Tuesday, January 26th. What a beautiful soul and gift from God was your mother Barbara, Steve. I knew her through Magnificat, and her spirit and visage were so youthful that I thought she was your sister when I first found out you two were related! Enjoyed the slideshow; it's obvious your parents were very much in love with one another.

I will offer a Rosary for the repose of her and your father's souls.

Eternal rest grant unto Barbara Faucher, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

The photo legacy was so beautiful. The video brought tears and laughter. I went to high school with Carlene who is married to Steve. I will never forget Barbara. Her sweet laugh and her smile. Love to you all, Kathy MacKenzie

I knew Barbara through my cousin, Carlene, who is married to Steve. While I did not have the opportunity to spend much time with her, the time that I did have was always pleasant and fun. We had some good potlucks and good conversation in the various family residences. She was consistently upbeat, no matter the situation. I know she will be missed dearly by those whose lives she touched most deeply.

I knew Barbara through many years attending Magnificat gatherings. She was such a beautiful person, inside and out and always so appreciative of everything that was done for Magnificat. I had many long conversations with her on the phone. She was sweet, funny and kind and I will miss her.

I first met Barbara through Magnificat. I truly appreciate the gift of her time and talent in bringing the Magnificat breakfast to Catholic women year after year. My spiritual life benefited and therefore, so did my family's. We later discovered that our daughter and her grand daughter were in several high school plays together...a little God-incidence! Barbara, please pray for me and my family, as you continue your spiritual work in Heaven! We are praying for your family's peace. Love and Blessings to your whole family.

My dear Friend..My heart is hurting so . We had so many fun times and laughter. One time we were going to a funeral. I cannot remember even whose it was, but getting out of the car you said "Donna, we are going to have to hire mourners at our funeral because we probably will not have anyone at ours. That made us laugh so much. She was witty and silly and very meticulous about so many things. She was a very spiritual person and loved to say the rosary and pray together with all of us on the Magnificat team. We spent 10 years together and every moment was a gift to be with you. When you and I were together we talked about who was going first. What we would do and all kinds of crazy stuff like that. Well, my friend you did go first, but you have to pray for me now because I know you are in heaven. When it is time for me to go, you help pull me through..ok? I love you and I will treasure knowing you for the rest of my life. Rest in peace my good friend..I miss yous os. Just knowing you are not here on earth any longer for me to call you. Sosmetimes our talks were over an hour to sometimes two, Can you believe that!!! I could go on and on but this is simple and just me talking to a wonderful person. .

I loved being in Barbara's groups.... Magnificat, Bible studies, Charasmatic prayer etc. Also, we shared the friendship of Dorothy, a friend living now in AZ. Your Mother, Wife, grandmother was such a delight to be around. I'll surely miss her. May the Lord be with you all in this difficult time.
