Mike Kawaoka Obituary

Mike Kawaoka, 67, of Arroyo Grande, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2010. He was a strawberry farmer for many years and a longtime member of the Arroyo Grande Optimist Club. Mike proudly served our country as a member of the National Guard. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; sons Scot and Eric (Sheila); grandchildren Emma and Tomo; sister, Miyoko (Ernie); brother, Craig (Jeanine); stepson, Steve; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sister, Yoshie; and parents, Kingo and Tatsumi. Friends are invited to the visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2010, at the Marshall-Spoo Sunset Funeral Chapel, 1239 Longbranch Ave. in Grover Beach. A private family graveside service will be held at the Arroyo Grande Cemetery. Marshall-Spoo 489-5552 Grover Beach

Uncle Mike, no words can truly describe the kind of man you were. There are so many people that you have truly touched in this life with your kind heart and remarkable personality and for that you will be very missed.
