Dorothy H. Massanari

Dorothy Massanari, 89, passed away Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, in San Luis Obispo. Born in July 1921 in Sioux City, Iowa, she was the daughter of Glenn and Mazie Sylvester. The family moved to the Pasadena, Calif., area in the early 1920s. Her nickname was "Marcheta," as she was known by her family and friends. Her beauty and sense of style was always an inspiration to us all. Marcheta was dedicated to being a loving wife and mother. She had been living with her caring and devoted daughter, Maxine, in Avila Beach for the last five plus years. Her faithful and loving little dachshund, Liesel, was always at her side. We will all miss Marcheta very much. Marcheta is survived by her daughter, Maxine H. Hartley of Avila Beach; sons Charles G. Massanari (Sue) of Santa Barbara and Marc J. Massanari (Susan) of Randolph, N.J.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
