H. Reynolds Obituary

H. Paul Reynolds was born in 1932 in Plainfield, N.J., and died peacefully at home surrounded by family Tuesday, Jan 24, 2012, after having lived courageously with Parkinson''s Disease. Paul graduated from Cornell University in 1953, was a 1st Lt. in the U.S. Army and a member of the Psi Upsilon fraternity. He spent the early part of his career working for Ford Motor Company, the middle part of his career as the owner of Paul Reynolds Ford in Arroyo Grande and the latter part of his career in finance and real estate. Paul and Virginia enjoyed sailing and MGs. They were former members of the Morro Bay Yacht Club and are members of the Uncertain T''s MG club.  Paul was the former co-chair of the Central Coast Parkinson''s support group and was always involved in the local community in which he lived.  He was loved and respected by co-workers, friends and family. Paul is survived by his wife, Virginia Severa; children Barry Brown (Dorothy), Paul Reynolds Jr. (Laura), Brooke Brown, Brian Brown (Kaysoon), Tricia Kosowsky (Rich), Beth Buckingham-Brown (JE), Mollie Brown, Thea Reynolds, Faith Holder (Ron) and Donielle Severa-Lee (Ken); 20 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A celebration of Paul''s life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at the Old Santa Rosa Chapel in Cambria. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson''s Alliance, P.O. Box 308, Kingston, NJ 08528-0308; or Central Coast Hospice, 2653 Granada Dr. San Luis Obispo, CA 93401.

Virginia and family members - "Hairy Paul" and I arrived at Cornell in the autumn of 1949, and we were both part of the pledge class of Psi Upsilon the next autumn. Paul and I roomed together in the House that term, and I became aware of what a kind, humorous and gentle man he was. He never lost those qualities and was always a favorite among peers. Because we both had parents in Plainfield NJ, we traveled to and from there together. It was an adventure if Paul provided the transportation, because he had a Model T Ford and a 1923 Essex as his hobbies. Sixty-two years later, I still consider myself fortunate to have been his friend and roommate. Sincerest sympathies to all of you who loved Paul.

Paul hired me when I first moved to Arroyo Grande when he owned Paul Reynolds Ford. He was a kind boss and I enjoyed working for him and with his daughter Mollie. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. We wish you peace now and in the days to come. Sincerely, Patty and Tony Flores
