I had the good fortune know Jim and to spend time with him on the trail. I enjoyed listening to his interesting stories and tales. I particularly enjoyed a memorable hike with Jim on the Cruikshank trail a few years back. Jim's trail building skills and his knowledge of the lay of the land were his gift. A gift he graciously shared. Generations of Atascadero residents will benefit from the trails Jim constructed in Atascadero's Stadium Park. I think of Jim fondly whenever I'm out on the trail.

Jim was a wonderful man, and his tireless volunteer dedication to the Cruikshank Trail in Big Sur has been a true inspiration to myself and many others. I think of him every time I hike there, and will always have fond memories of sharing tea with him after trailtime, there in his tidy little camp nestled in the ceanothus forest, he telling fascinating stories and reciting his wonderful poetry.

Louise and I have fond memories of times spent with Jim and Edith at their house and ours. We enjoyed the great stories and I had a great time building Pine Mountain Trail with Jim. Edith - I hope you are getting lots of cookies.

Dear Edith and family
Jim was a true gentleman and loved his work volunteering withthe Forest Service.
I will always remember how strong he was while seeing Dr. Lewis.
May you have the strength you need during this time.
