I knew Jim and was associated with him through the electrical industry from 1963 until I retired in 2001. We had many good laughs over the years, he kidding me for being an Okie I always said he made a wise choice leaving Texas. He will be greatly missed by all. My prayers and condolences go out to all his family.

I attended Grace while I went to Cal Poly and James & Pat "adopted" me! I enjoyed many meals & stories at their home and smiles and hugs from both of them at church. My prayers for peace in your hearts as you have confidence in his presence with the Lord.

Although we lived out of the area for years, I could always count on Jim's warm greeting when we visited Grace Church. He was one of those people you just don't forget.

Jimmy, I will miss you. I always looked forward to you coming into P.I.E. and sitting in my office, drinking coffee and telling me stories of your days in the Marine Corps and the Korean War. You were truly a wonderful person and you always cheered me up!

Jimmy, you were a wonderful friend and such a caring person. I will always remember seeing you at Cool Cats eating lunch and sometimes even coming over to our table and sitting down with us and talking. I will treasure the big hug you gave me on my last day of work at P.I.E.

My condolences to your family. You were truly a great man! Judy McCallister (Vacaville, CA, formerly of San Luis Obispo, CA)

Brent and Tom and families:
Jim was a wonderful friend who came to visit us often. I will miss his wonderful smile and great outlook on life and he was a proud Marine. The best part is that he loved the Lord and he knew where he was going some day, and now he's there!! He will be missed by many.

My sympathy and condolences to Margaret and Betty and all of the many other Estes. I will never forget walking into the Estes Family Christmas Eve gathering in 1988. Jim's nephew, Terry was parking the car and had told me to just go into the back room. Little did I know that I was walking into what looked like hundreds of Estes. I must have looked like a deer in headlights because then Jim said, Welcome to the Estes family and made me feel right at home. I am sorry he is gone and will be missed but know he is in a better place.

I had met Jim several years ago. He liked to come into our restaurant, Caruso's, and have a nice lunch. I got to know him when I questioned his hat, a Marine Corps. hat. I enjoyed his smile and friendship. After we sold, I would see him at various places around town and always enjoyed our conversations. I will miss him and his pride in being a Marine.

Jim was a gentile guiding light. I first met him as a scout troop leader; worked with him on County Education Campus and later at CMC. He was a wonderful friend and neighbor that will be sorely missed. He had a way to bring humor to relieve stressful situations. He was a gem!

I have so many memories of Jim. He teased me incessantly with his humor...brings a smile to my face. He was such a faithful servant of our LORD. I will truly miss him "baa-ing" at me as I enter Grace Church. Much love and prayers for all of the Estes family.

My love and prayers are being sent to the family. I can't imagine the heartache so soon after we said goodbye to Pat. But we know they are now together again in the presence of the Lord.

Jim always carried an infectious smile with a twinkle in his eyes that bespoke a contentment with life that few attain. He will surely be sorely missed, but that infectious smile lives on in all those luck enough to have known him and experienced that special twinkle first hand.

Jim was a big influence on me as I was growing up at Grace Church. Even after I grew up and would come back to visit I would find Jim there ready to Usher you into the church with a huge smile to greet you. He will be greatly missed.
