Jean Yudain Obituary

Jean Sinsheimer Yudain passed away peacefully in Greenwich, Conn., Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at home. She had been a Greenwich resident for 57 years. Jean attended the Rye Country Day School and during the War, College of New Rochelle. She was married for 56 years to the late Bernard Yudain, the former Assistant to the President and Corporate Affairs Director of TIME Inc., and head of the first Washington office of TIME. Jean was an active hostess for Bernie''s work in Washington and in Greenwich, was a long time volunteer at Greenwich Hospital, a docent at Caramoor in Katonah, N.Y., and a long time volunteer at the Christ Church Bookstore in Greenwich. A descendent of two Pioneer California families, Jean''s parents moved from west to the east when her father joined the Cities Service Oil Company, where he became a Vice Chairman of the Board. Jean is survived by her son, David Yudain of Greenwich; sister, Anne of San Luis Obispo; seven nieces and nephews; 12 grand nieces and nephews; and her devoted caregivers Aleksandra Piotrowski, RN and Zulmira Beato. She was predeceased by her brother, Warren A. Sinsheimer Jr. A memorial service celebrating Jean''s life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at Christ Church Greenwich in the Chapel.
