John Carmichael Obituary

John Carmichael, 81, of Paso Robles, passed away Friday, Nov. 26, 2010 in Atascadero. He was born in March of 1929 in Topeka, Kan., and has been a resident of San Luis Obispo County for 30 years. John played pro-baseball with the Pacific Coast League from 1946 until 1956. During that time, he served his country with the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. After he retired from baseball, John entered a 17-year career as a firemen in Redondo Beach, Calif., where he retired as a Captain. When he moved to the Central Coast, John worked in construction and was well known for his beautiful masonry work in our area, but left his masonry career for health reasons. He went to work for Boatman''s Furniture Center in Templeton, where many will remember his delightful personality during his 10 years as a salesman. John was a dedicated Templeton Eagle''s booster and Paso Robles girl''s softball supporter. He enjoyed dancing at the Templeton Concert''s in the Park and was a regular at the Paso Robles Library. His gregarious nature and wonderful sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. John is survived by his daughter, Roxanne Paris (Martin) and their children, Tiffany, Brittany, Derek and Breana; daughter, Alondra Davis and children Candace and Jim; son John Carmichael, and his son, J.J. He was preceded in death in 2003 by his wife and love of his life, Del Carmichael. A celebration of John''s life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at Kuehl-Nicolay Funeral Home, 1703 Spring St., in Paso Robles, followed by burial at the Templeton District Cemetery.
