Lena Fowler Obituary

Lena Harris Collins Fowler, 88, was born in 1921, in Brooklyn, N.Y. the youngest of six children and passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, in Morro Bay. Lena made her way west to California around the age of 20. Living and working in San Francisco she met and married John Collins. They moved to San Mateo after John returned from his tour in the Navy during WWII. They had two children, Daniel and Sheila. Lena worked for many years at Litton. She loved good cooking, traveling and most of all spending time with family, especially her granddaughter Erin. Lena''s husband of 36 years, John, died in 1984. She later married Harold Fowler in 1988. He passed in 2002. In 2002 Lena moved to her beloved Morro Bay. Throughout the time she lived there she never lost her sense of humor or her grace. She met each day on its own merit and always seemed to be able to find the best in that day. Lena is survived by son Daniel of San Mateo, Calif.; daughter Sheila (Karl) Klaesius of Atascadero; granddaughter Erin; her many loving nieces, nephews and best friend Verna. She was preceded in death by siblings Jack, Betty, Sarah, Rose and Hannah. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Dear Sheila, Karl and family,
I was sorry to hear of Lena's passing. I enjoyed the few years that I was able to get to know her at Casa de Flores. She always had such a positive attitude, a hug and a smile for me! I enjoyed the stories she loved to share about her wonderful family and her life's adventures!! May you find peace in all of memories that you have of this beautiful woman!
