Susan Portz Obituary

Susan Ann Portz, 62, passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at her home. She was born in Greeley, Colo. She later met her love Edward in Casper, Wyo., where they were married. Sue and Ed moved to Ventura, Calif., shortly after their wedding. Sue became a day care mother and helped care for and raise many, many children over the next 38 years. The Portz family moved to Arroyo Grande in 1987, where she continued to demonstrate her compassion and love for children. Sue was active in the Arroyo Grande Grace Bible Church and New Beginnings Christian Church of the Nazarene in Nipomo. She was also able to enjoy time with her five grandchildren in Nipomo and Leesville, La. Susan is survived by her husband, Edward; sons Tom and Chris; sister, Dorothy; grandchildren Ava, Sam, Allison, Sarah and Daisy; and dog, Buddy. She was preceded in death by her mother Ruth; father Leslie; brother Butch; sister Barbara; and niece Marteen. A memorial service for Sue will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at Marshall-Spoo Sunset Funeral Chapel, 1239 Longbranch Ave. in Grover Beach, followed by burial at the Arroyo Grande Cemetery. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Hospice Partners of the Central Coast, 277 South St. Ste. R, San Luis Obispo CA 93401. Sue loved the Lord with all her heart and served Him faithfully.
