Resident of Aptos, CA
James Yoshio Shimizu passed from our physical presence on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the age of 69.
He left our world peacefully at his home surrounded by family.
Born and raised in Maui Hawaii, Jim graduated with a Masters Degree from Stanford University prior to which he served in the United States Army.
Jim ultimately planted roots for the past forty years in Aptos, CA - not withstanding a few long, adventurous stays working in Australia, Japan and Canada.
Jim built the home his family lives in.
He was well known for his amazing cooking especially sushi, he always made a perfect meal. Every life he touched was better for knowing him. He embraced the "Aloha Spirit" and had the best of all hearts.
James is survived by his loving wife Jean Shimizu, they loved and lived with each other for over 40 years.
Also survived by daughter, Alison Maile Cornwell, Son, Edward Kahani Shimizu, grandson, Evan James Cornwell, granddaughter Emma Jaye Cornwell and grandson, Taylor John Couchman.
A private celebration and farewell ALOHA was held on Saturday, May 19th. Okole Maluna Jim. We will love you forever!
