Dorcas Titcomb Obituary

DORCAS BROWN TITCOMB DORCAS BROWN TITCOMB, age 76, died on August 29,2014 in Kissimmee, Florida. Dorcas was living in Kissimmee, Florida, near her daughter Eloisa Titcomb. Her beloved husband, Keith Titcomb, of 47 years, died in 2009. She is also predeceased by her parents, and four of her siblings. She is survived by her children, Joan Titcomb Bowyer and her husband Bill Bowyer, Mark Titcomb and his wife Tiffany Backstrom, and Eloisa Titcomb and her husband Mark Mekkes. Also, two grandsons Luke and Ty Bowyer and her big sister Eloisa Brown. She was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in 1938, to Dr. and Mrs. Robert O. Brown. She was the youngest child of six children, and thrived on the attention she received from this happy family. She was always an avid reader, and enjoyed her education. She graduated Santa Fe High School, went on to Smith College, and proceeded to get two Master's degrees in Microbiology. Dorcas was also passionate about skiing. While she was studying in Portland, Oregon, she met Keith Titcomb skiing single at Mt. Hood. Within the year they were married and thrived on raising their three children. Keith was an aerospace engineer, his career took them from Oregon to Newport, RI, on to Wichita, KS, where they met great lifelong friends. Next they relocated to Kansas City, KS, and finally to Sarasota, FL. Dorcas became the director of the Medical Lab at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Dorcas, Keith, and Keith's sister MaryAnn, moved from Sarasota to Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the last two years of Keith's life. Dorcas moved back to Florida to be closer to her children. Dorcas's children were with her when she died, after her long and brave struggle with Diabetes.

I grew up on West Narragansett Ave in Newport RI. Dorcas and Keith were out neighbors..I was very young but remember them and Joanie.. Great People !
