Andre Adams
Andre Adams, 9/1/1960 to 12/18/2010. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana to John D. Adams and Flora Adams, died after a courageous 15 year battle with kidney disease. Andre was raised in Atascadero, CA and lived in Santa Maria, CA. He attended Atascadero High School and worked as a construction laborer for most of his adult life. He was a member of the Construction Laborers Union and he also worked for Messar Construction in Atascadero. After a kidney transplant in 1996, he worked briefly for C.R. England, Inc. as a long distance truck driver.
Andre is survived by his wife Gerri Adams, Mother Flora Adams, 9 children, many foster children, 17 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter and 10 siblings, Arnold Cross, Jason Adams, Marvin Adams, Carlos Adams, Angela Martin, Sharon Adams, Dionne Banks, Freddie McCrady, Eunice Adams, and Eddis Adams, 70 nieces and nephews. He also had 2 brothers-in-law, Christopher Barajas and Deric Hobson, and 1 sister-in-law, Veronica Barajas, who loved him very much, along with his long time friend Jose Hernandez and countless other friends and family who were blessed to know him. He was preceded in death by his father, John D. Adams, and his sister, Sandra Cross.
Andre loved the Lord, as well as listening to Jazz music, traveling, fishing, camping, barbecuing, old cars, sharing life with his many pets, laughing and being with family, and having fun with friends and reaching out to whoever needed help. He touched the lives of many people with his smile and perseverance and maintained his strong will and encouraged all whom he came in contact with all the way to the end.
Friends and family are invited to attend his visitation and service on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Magner-Maloney Funeral Home, 600 E. Stowell Road in Santa Maria, CA. from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Following will be the celebration of his life at Presbyterian Fellowship Hall, 200 W. Cook St. in Santa Maria.
