Carolyn Schneider Obituary

Carolyn Joy Schneider
Carolyn Joy Schneider, 77, passed peacefully away at her home on Saturday, September 25th 2010, after succumbing to a long courageous fight with Alzheimer‘s Disease. She was born to Rev. Oswald and Effie Whitford on Christmas Day 1932, in Red Bluff, Ca.
The family later moved to Bremerton, Washington where she grew up. Carolyn attended The University of Washington where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education in 1954. In 2007, Carolyn returned to Santa Maria to live with her family.
She had a great love for family, friends, and animals. Carolyn was a loving and caring mom, grandma, and great-grandma, she was a devoted teacher, and passionate member of Unity Church and choir. Carolyn loved to sing. She wrote and published a book (I Know You Love Me) in the 1980's. She will always be remembered for the great kindness she showed others.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her father Reverend Oswald William Whitford in 1970, her mother Effie Jane Whitford in 1990, and her sister and (dear friend) Sylvia Elaine Williams in 2007.
She is survived by her daughter Susan and (Millard) Winkle of San Luis Obispo, CA; daughter Katherine Dodd of Groveland, CA; daughter Barbara Schneider of Orcutt, CA; brother-in-law Forbes Warner Williams of Portland, OR; grandchildren: Amanda Schneider, Jacquelyn (Dennis) Heaton, Elizabeth Dodd, Skyler Dodd, Grace Winkle, Kaitlyn Schneider, Eamon Winkle, and Julia Schneider; and great-grandchildren: Armando Alcantar, Zachariah Schneider, Quinton Heaton, and D.C Guinness; nephew David Williams; nieces Mary Jones, Margaret Larson, Suzanne Williams and Katherine Wesenberg; nine great-nieces and nephews; also, childhood friends: Jeanette Brockman, Donna Heitsman, Lois Plummer, Harriet Swan, and Marianne Hawkins.

Carolyn was my daughter's first grade Teacher at Miller Street School, we will always value the personal interest and care that she shared with her student's and families. Carolyn often donated her time to speak at the AHC Children's Center parenting classes where she offered insightful views about helping children transition into elementary school.
