Dale Austin Obituary

Dale N. Austin
Dale Austin, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on September 23, 2010. He was born on December 24, 1919 in Effingham, Illinois, to George and Della Austin.
Dale graduated in 1938 from Effingham High School where he excelled in basketball, track and baseball. He enlisted in the US Air Force where he served during World War II. He met his first wife, Evelyn at a USO dance and they were married on October 17, 1942. Upon completion of his service to his country, Dale and Evelyn moved to Temple City, California. In 1945, Dale began a long and successful career with Pacific Bell Telephone. He retired from the company in 1978 after 33 years of employment.
Dale and Evelyn lived in Glendora, California for many years where they raised a daughter, Sharon and son, Gary. Some of Dale's happiest memories were those times spent camping and fishing in the Eastern Sierra Mountains with family and friends. He was also an avid golfer and was a long time member at Glendora Country Club and later Santa Maria Country Club.
His first wife, Evelyn, preceded Dale in death. He married Jacque Hemsing on August 27, 1998. They resided in Santa Maria and were happily married these past 12 years.
His loving wife Jacque; daughter Sharon; and son Gary and daughter-in-law Jeanne, survives Dale. He was blessed with 12 beautiful grandchildren: Alice Smith, Christine Woll, Paul Ward, Adam Ward, Shannon Ward, Brittany Williams, Michael Williams, Nathan Lamb, Cassandra Lamb, Martin Austin, Meredith Austin, and Matthew Austin. Dale also has eight great-grandchildren!
Funeral services will be held at Forest Lawn in Glendale, CA on Wednesday, September 29th at 1:30pm in the Wee Kirk O' the Heather Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the American Cancer Society.

To Dales Family,

I was a neighbor of Dale for a few years in Foxenwoods. He waa always a firecracker. Very nice man. I am sorry for the loss.
