Diane Evans Obituary

Diane L. Evans
1944 - 2010
Diane L. Evans, 65, passed away on October 12, 2010 at home with family at her side, after a brave and hard fought battle with cancer.
Diane was born on October 16, 1944 in Detroit, MI, to Joan and Charles Smith. She was the younger of two children, having one brother, James. After being raised and educated in Detroit she moved to southern California with her first husband and two sons. She was a courageous single mom raising her two boys, until meeting her soul mate. On August 29, 1975 she was married to Gary Evans, gaining a son and daughter. Together they had a son and their family was formed. They moved to Clovis, New Mexico in 1979 and lived there for eight years, finally settling in Santa Maria in 1987. Diane worked in the accounting field for various firms in the area while also attending school to become a C.P.A. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of La Verne in 1999 and earned her C.P.A. license in 2006. Finishing school and earning her C.P.A. was something she was very proud of, considering she raised five children and worked full time. Diane loved to spend her time traveling to places like Mendocino and Cambria. She also loved watching football, especially the Michigan Wolverines and the San Francisco 49ers.
She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Gary Evans, and her five children; Dennis Evans, of Brea, Ca; Keith Littell and wife Denise, of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; Edward Littell and wife Michelle, of Adelanto, CA; Dawn Uber and husband Eric, of Wildomar, CA; and Eric Evans and wife Annabelle, of Santa Maria. Diane is also.survived by her nine grandchildren; Blake, Brendan, Jessica, Rebecca, David, Tyler, Kylie, Juliza and Cecily; and two great-grandchildren; Chase and Caden.
Diane is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Joan Smith; and her brother, James H. Smith.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, in the Chapel of Magner-Maloney Funeral Home, with Pastor Clete Doyal officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Diane's name to the Marian Cancer Center, in the care of Marian Foundation, 1400 East Church Street, Santa Maria, CA 93454.
Arrangements are in the care of Magner-Maloney Funeral Home and Crematory. Sympathy notes and words of support may be expressed at www.magnermaloney.com.

Mom, I miss you so much...You have been a huge part of my life for 23 years and my Mom for 18 years. My relationship I have with you is very special to me, we had to work on it, Keith and Eric would leave us alone at times on our visits and we found things to do together, shop, crafts, lunches... We really built our relationship on Love. I miss our late night talks and all the wisdom you had. You would always listen and never give an opinion unless you were asked. I hear so many of your life lessons in my head and trust them. You have raised five beautiful children, you were an extraordinary wife, mom, and grandmother! Your strength stays with me everyday. I love you MOM!

I enjoyed the time we spent together at Christensen & Drake. We had fun enjoying numerous lunches and discussions together. I was really sorry to hear that you were sick. I know your family is going to miss you very much as you have been a rock in their lives. I'm sure that you will be looking after them from above. I'm so sorry you had to suffer with this terrible disease. My prayers will be with your family and for the repose of your soul. Until we meet again!! Carol
