Harvey W. Guerra
Harvey W. Guerra lifelong resident of Santa Maria passed away at his home on November 29, 2010. Mr. Guerra was born May 20, 1915 in Oso Flaco, CA. He graduated from San Jose State in 1937 with a degree in finance where he enjoyed boxing and running track. Mr. Guerra served in the United States Army in the Philippines from 1940 to 1944 as a combat infantryman. He received a battlefield commission for his leadership and gallantry during that time. In 1945 he returned to Oso Flaco to begin his career as a farmer. He retired from farming in the mid 70s to resume his love of hunting and fishing. No squirrel or deer were safe when they were in his sight.
He is survived by his daughter Susie Payne, son in law Whitney Payne, granddaughter Lindsey Nielson, Loving partner for 17 years, Mary Guidotti, brother in law Joseph Betchard and many beloved friends.
Visitations will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010 from 6:00 - 8:00pm at Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary. A Private inurnment will be held at a later date.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Marian Homecare Hospice, c/o Marian Medical Foundation, 1400 E. Church St., Santa Maria, CA 93454.
Arrangements are under the direction of Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary, Crematory and Memory Gardens.
